Ray. What an amazing artist. An amazing, insightful, kind, unique man. There will NEVER be another RM. Remember his wise words about life. Say no to hard drugs. Soul destroyers. No matter what you're fighting within yourselves, drugs, including alcohol, are not the answer. You may feel down today but remember, the sun will surely rise again tomorrow. Love yourself. Peace.

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Ray Manzarek at the House of Blues in West Hollywood in 2003 in which I was the lucky recipient of tickets to see The Doors for an interview with Jim Ladd and KLOS. Ray was sitting at the bar drinking a Heineken and I waltzed over and sat down next to him and had a very memorable conversation with him. Very nice man. I was nervous. Maybe a little star struck. They played four songs. Ian Astbury sang. Stewart Copeland on drums. Really something special.

Thank you, THE DUTCH GUY, for sharing this great interview! I love that Ray has so many interesting stories and great messages to tell and Susan Marie did such a great job of bringing them out of him. Along with the interview by Alison Steele, this is one of my favorite interviews given by Ray. I can listen to him talk for hours. It seems he's the real brain of the band while Jim is the poetic spirit of the Doors. He reminds me of Timothy Leary in his factual positive view on psychedelics.

Aside from Ray’s absurd speculations about the sealed coffin (he should know better, but somebody has to play Paul the evangelist), a good interview. I do like what Ray has to say about the endless distractions of our digital life (and it’s only gotten worse since his time). People often marvel that the doors were so young when they created that great body of music. This fact is integrally related to their focus on their music and their lack of distractions.

Ray Manzarek (RIP) is well known to have had a tendency to embellish his stories to keep the Jim Morrison mystique alive. Here he says all members in the group were in agreement to not not say "higher" but when you see Robby Krieger's reaction in the video to Morrison doing just that it's unmistakable that he was totally surprised that Morrison actually did say "higher".

Who the hell am I? Nobody different than you... but IF I had to give this interview a grade, it'd fall somewhere between a C and a C+. Search out Jim Ladd's "Innerview" series on The Doors if you want to hear some really great conversations about ALL aspects of the band. This was a "fun" interview; not too heavy, so in that regard I did like it. What I found REALLY intriguing was how Ray mentioned that Oliver Stone did a great job in his rockumentary film "The Doors" - at least in THIS interview. First time I heard Ray say that; any other time when I heard his comments, he said that Stone did a poor job in recreating the characters from real life to film... anyway, thank God we have the words and the music of one of the greatest rock bands ever. God bless you, and thanks for the scoop, Ray!

So at the end he did say God bless you! The true God (invisible God that most pantheists and atheists deny) does exist! Mr.Manzarek has met Him for sure, the second he had the last breath! Are you ready to meet Him? Jesus is the answer! I used to be a Doors fan back in the 90s, and their music and songs did prompt me to think of extraterrestrial things (psychedelic matters, which in essence means spiritual matters) until I got God's Word (the ultimate and the only truth)! Mr.Manzarek was very astute in oriental philosophy and ideology. but sadly was very mistaken.

@@scottharrison9083I agree. As patriotic as Ray was to The Doors’ legacy, he remained one-sided about everything and everyone with the premise that Jim Morrison could do no wrong and how dare anyone disagree with him (Ray) about any of it. From the absolute respect and admiration to Ray, I have to say that his examination about God is totally false and full of error and confusion. Creator and mind is not the same. The World and the God is not the same. Budish is the opposite of Jesus religion way. Sadly, Ray has shown his total ignorance about religion and philosophy. and all he says about it , is pure eclecticism and frivolous syncretism. Probably he learned a lot about European cinema, but he didn´t learn almost nothing about Religion and Phylosophy European Knowledge. Their generation suffered the initial social ingenery of Frankfurt school and freudomarxism, 68 Paris, Drug abuse, the decepcion of council vatican 11 and as a consecuence the flowering of hedonism. This way is not good, because Epicureanism was the decadence of Greek Philosophy which really began with Plato and Aristoteles. The greatness of Doors music is that usually treats about love, travels, beautiful landscapes as the desert , sea vojages, Andalusian pilgrimages, human depiction passages like sof parade. Fortunately, Doors songs has as an anchor the goal of romanticism. The mistake in his poetry is the panteism as a possibility and the hedonism, besides moral relativism. Of course, I´m a superb fan of Ray and Doors music, the best rock band ever.

I've heard worse, but this interviewer is not good. You can tell Ray is not enjoying dealing with her not making sense. He sounds great, as always. I host radio shows, and I think she's irritating and hasn't done her homework, talks about herself too much, editorialized, the excessive, loud giggling is like nails on a chalkboard, and she pretends she understands what Ray is talking about. She's not too bright. The hyperbole is annoying - "Amazing!", "Wonderful!" etc. too. I could say even more. Gotta turn this off. This is killing me. My interview would have been very different. I would have done my homework, which she obviously hasn't. Oh, btw, she also mispronounced Ray's name.

@@rev.jimjonesandthekool-aid4488 Regardless of what happened in the 60's when Jim was alive, full credit has to be given to John Densmore for joining forces with Jim's father to block Ray & Robbie from selling the Doors music for use in commercials in the early 2000's. When Jim was alive he was opposed to selling the Doors music for such purposes. Ray/Robbie wanted to cash out and violate Jim's preferences when he was alive. John honored Jim's spirit by opposing such moves along with Jim's estate (his father/sister, etc.).
