From what I've witnessed they seem to get most of the humour in our comedies, except where we use different words, and they are usually pretty blown away. From my experience what they don't tend to get is our banter, but we can be pretty brutal in that area, they can be offended by things we think nothing of because they just don't realise we're only having a laugh!

Observational comedy has been booming here in the last 20-30 years and he's one of the best at it. His "Live at the Bolton Albert Halls" video is timeless. Michael Mcintyre's standups are also top notch (world's highest grossing stand-up comedian 2012) and worth checking out. If you don't mind borderline insulting/disgusting then try a little Jimmy Carr or Frankie Boyle. Whatever you watch, keep having fun!

A bit of trivia on the language barrier: In Peter's Ethiopian joke, "pork pie" sounds more like "poke pie" to Americans, which is why our reactors often appear to be struggling with what Peter Kay is saying and why it is funny. One other thing: American reactors don't necessarily know what a vicar is, which is why "staple the vicar" joke isn't always as successful as it should be. I lived for a few years across the Pond, which helps.

Very good play on words, looks like our humour is rubbing off, lovely jubbly, ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES, more classics from across the pond, just off Europe 🤐

After watching this I don't feel so bad about myself. Those were exactly the same words I always heard when listening to those songs. Now I will have to look up the lyrics of every song I'm not sure about. No wonder people always looked at me funny.

I first saw Peter Kay as an unknown doing tv for a motorway services related comedy show and was hooked. Next saw him at a small comedy club on Bold Street Liverpool, jus before he became massive. The rest is history. A true UK comedy genius.

I was yesterday year old when I discovered the lyrics to a song weren't "My love has got no money, he's got his trampolines..."

This is based on McGurkin effect, where visual image can be used to change how we interpret what we just heard. This is used in movies constantly, for ex snapping bones in action movie can be someone snapping a bunch of celery. You can be offered the same sound twice in a row but if it is accompanied with different visuals, you hear different things.. yet you can detect it was the same sound.

The KD Lang song is Constant Craving, probably the easiest song to identify her by that I know of outside of duets with other singers like Roy Orbison.
