I was following the guides in their wiki when I made this video. From what i saw it only showed lubing the top of the X rail. But in one of their short videos it actually shows lubing the bottom too. So don't forget to put a couple drops on the bottom of the x rail!

Why would you put oil on the belt? I think it's supposed to be where the bearing is.
@StevenKelley2 күн бұрын
Machinal engineer here: The step at 12:17. You never want to put oil on any pully surface in contact of the belt. Oil on the belt will make it slip, and not use the pully correctly causing additional wear. Oil on the pully axle is okay.

What about lubricating the underside of the x rail?
@TheEdgeofTechАй бұрын
You should put a couple drops underneath if you can. I just went back through their guide and it seems before it said just the top , but their little short Video shows drops on the top and bottom.
@Sam-j6l9xАй бұрын
A little bit of oil to protect the metal is good but the roller likely never touches at the bottom. It mostly just holds the machine together if you turn it upside down.

After how many hours of operation are you supposed to do this maintenance?
@TheEdgeofTechАй бұрын
It is different for each part. I would refer to the wiki that is linked in the description to get The recommended time frames for maintenance. I found in the past that it did change a little since I did another video so I didn't want to put the actual times in the video just in case it changed in the future.

After as many hours their finance department wish you to. I’ve been printing for many years and never replaced anything when I’ve been told to. Obvious maintenance is only required, anything else is marketing guff. And who buys canned air ffs.

@paulr4279 I would agree, a electric blower is better! But I would disagree with saying you should not do maintenance. Always replace worn or old parts!

I've only had the printer for a few weeks. And printed approx. 1.5kg. I had my first misprint a few days ago. I just bought some PTFE lubricant spray from WD40 and sprayed it on all the moving parts. 😂 So on everything that appears in the video. Since then, I've had no more misprints and even finer prints than before.

I was always told that oil makes rubber brittle and cracks.... Bit confused here
@StevenKelley2 күн бұрын
Correct this is a terrible video and should be removed. NEVER put oil on a belt with a pully, slipping, will cause extra wear and correct in some cases degrade the rubber.

while cold that piece of filament it's really stuck in the hothead. the printer will purge it anyways when a new print job is sent.

I wish you showed how to remove that plastic cover on the hot end a little better its a little tricky for first timers. If you going to be oiling those bearings on either side your going to end up with oil on the belt after oiling it a few times, dont think oil on the rubber might be good.
