Congratulations on the booth. It seems you generated a lot of excitement around your ability to deliver fantastic customized kits on various platforms. I'm already hearing lots of excitement and interest (rightly so!) around what you may offer on the new V71! Cheers!

Hey Luke, good to see you doing a review of the drum show. You mentioned asking for feedback which is always useful to hear why drummers go electronic. For me, I went electronic to NOT have full sized shell drums and for the versatility of practising at home but still hearing a full shell kit. In my opinion, I wouldn’t go full shell size because they take up a lot of unnecessary space for the same sound, and I don’t need to hide that I’m playing edrums (which could be a deciding factor for company’s to sell them). For years I lugged around an acoustic kit but, if I can do the same with a compact kit on a frame (meaning less stands) I’m sold. Electronic drums to acoustic drums are what electronic keyboards are to the piano, I wouldn’t want to lug around a full size electric piano for the sake of emulating the piano’s size, hence, I wouldn’t do it for edrums. The thinner the pads the better but, it’s good to see larger diameters. Larger diameters don’t make much difference to compactness but full shells do. If I can fit five pads (drums) in one compartment bag and wheel it along on its own, I’ll always go for that option. Compactness and speed of setup / tear down is a priority for me. Cheers, from ‘down under’ thanks for posting.

It was great to meet you on the Sunday and have a go on your amazing kit! I'll probably go again next year as it's only 20mins away from my house. I'll see you there!

Was great meeting you luke! I was blown away by your sample packs and kits; youtube doesn’t do them any justice on the improvement of responsiveness and realism, so the booth was a great idea. Ill be making a order tonight

Great meeting you there man! Shame I didn't get to have a go of your kit, you were busy and everytime I was over someone was banging away haha! You were probably one of the only edrum stands using Vic Firth cans, very much needed at an event like this!

Honestly, I think the strata prime is the best e kit out on the market right now. Not just because of the price, but because of the feel, the way the samples were recorded, and still being aesthetically pleasing even without big snare and tom shells. Even with how good the rolands feel, it just doesn't compare in sound imo.

Hey, very much appreciate the quick review of Zildjian ALCHEM-E 🙏 As for the hihat, there’s a simple 3-step calibration that makes a world of difference from player to player. Since the response of the hats is such a personal thing, I’d imagine with that calibration and some quick adjustments in the module they’d be playing like a dream. Sorry I missed you at the booth!

Totally understand that things can go wrong between different players and their technique! I'm definitely reserving full judgement until I'm able to try it more thoroughly than a brief test!

Yamaha still holding the throne of being the most disappointing edrum company. The have the quality and ability to go toe to toe with Roland and anyone else for that matter but ... well, they don't. I have a VAD 507 kit with some extra Jobeky cymbals. I'm eyeing that new Roland module + the new snare at some point and I can basically be current - at least for a few years

I wish Yamaha wasn’t dropping the Ball. It seems Roland and Ef note are still the shit and Alesis Strata prime is gonna be the Value king soon.

How do you feel about Yamaha’s new OS 2.0 release?? I’m actually super stoked on it because it hints at the potential for more capable hardware being released later on that could use the newest OS 2.0 kit features / sounds more accurately or respond best to the overall feature set compared to the current hardware. I’m thinking the shells are fine, tech wise; they got positional sensing on the -X kits snare and the the only sizing issue I can see being a true “next gen worthy” thing would be a 13” or 14” -X (TCS head) snare and an optional 13” or 14” low Tom. The cymbals, specifically the hi-hat, is where I see the ability for them to launch a DTX-16 & DTX-20 (8 and 10 times 2, like dtx10 2.0). Hi-hat update, snare size options, low Tom size options, and the module with their OS 2.0.

How to these new Gewa cymbals compare to the Roland thin cymbal's when crashing? Worth changing when they are released?

Wonder what firmware the Roland module was on. Apparently they physically changed the trigger placement on the cymbals and releases a v1.5 firmware to improve the triggering. I played a local display kit but it was on v1.0 still. Even with the triggering issues, I ordered a gold kit based on the feel, and hopes it will continue to improve with firmware. I never could get used to rubber cymbals. A $6,000 kit with (good triggering) rubber cymbals still felt like a toy to me.

The best e-drum set IMHO. I wish they added tom choke. 😁 Maybe next gen.

Hey dude - would love to see a review on the NEW Jobeky drum triggers. I know the old ones had bad hot spotting issues but I’m looking to build my own acoustic sized edrums and I’m unsure whether to cash out for Rdrums or go with Jobeky
@TheeDrumWorkshopАй бұрын
I have some and I aim to have a review in the next month or so. Overall though, the multiple side trigger versions of the Fast Fit triggers are really nice in my opinion and they remove the center hot spot. The center cone version does still have a hot spot and is quite similar to the old spoke style trigger I reviewed previously in terms of general response. I'll have much more detail in the review though, of course.

Hello from LA. I'm having trouble sorting out the video where you explain improving the playability of my TD-50 by using CC I'm using Addictive Drums 2.5 and I'm happy with the sounds but the 1. Velocity/Sensitivity is all out of whack 2. I dont want to use the LEARN function and instead understand how to assign using CC. I tried reading the AD2 manual (Map Window - Advanced E-drum Settings to see the 3 typical hi-hat setups). And I drowned from understanding. Do you have a video you can refer me to? I'd really be grateful. Thank you for making great content. Thanks Francis

I just hope Roland will come up with a "plug and play" version of the new module to replace the TD-27. I had a go at the 713 and it sounds amazing, but it's far too much money for me to be lugging around.

Especially on the same kit, but you're just focusing on the sounds instead of, ehhhhh, this tom is falling off the rack and it's set up like a pile of garbage AT pretty much every music store... Hahahahahahaha Anywho... Ok, back to the show ! Super psyched this was in my feed whet I logged on !!!! 👍👍👍😀👍👍👍

How did you send midi to multiple modules from the td-50. Did you use some sort of midi interface?
@TheeDrumWorkshopАй бұрын
I used a MIDI splitter, which I guess it kind of the same thing! The one I used is called a Banana Split, it's a 1-in to 6-out splitter. I'm sure there are other ones available that do the same thing though!

I play pretty hard too (especially so when I used to gig with my eDrums), so I didn't mind that. If I'd have realised, I could have given more headroom on the trigger settings though so that it responded more naturally to how he played!

contradictory statement at 17.30...he basically says some people buy an expensive module with all these sounds and features but rather prefer to plug into a vst, so they wanted to create a better(more expensive😂 )module and then says they bundle a free eDW vst to use with it...what's the point then?
