I was born in 1955 June 26 and I grew up in the 60's & 70's listening to artists like Nancy Wilson and Dionne Warrick. These black women were classy with style and etiquette. Trashy performs like Beyonce and Megan Thee Stallion can learn etiquette and decorum from great artist like Nancy Wilson, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Mary Wells, Diane Carroll, Shirley Bassey, Martha Reeves, Roberta Flack, Minnie Riperton, and Mahalia Jackson. I am here January 1, 2025 at 2:22 a.m. listening and watching this video.

I've watched this video an unhealthy amount of times over the past week. My mother considers Nancy Wilson her favorite singer, and I didn't pay much attention as a child, but now... I get it. Nancy was spectacular-sassy, refined, and classy. An absolute goddess. RIP to "The Girl With the Honey-Coated Voice" 🤎 ✨

I was very young when The Ed Sullivan Show went off the air and I can’t believe that for 23 years, people could tune in to watch talents like Judy Garland, Nancy Wilson, The Supremes etc all the while, in the comfort of their own homes!

I was watching Vikki Carr sing this song on Ed Sullivan and then KZbin then led me to Nancy's version. Vikki's rendition is great, but ultimately it is just a first-rate cover version. There is no topping Nancy's very original and personal take on the song. She really makes it her own.

I saw this performance on the Ed Sullivan Show back in 1969. I was not particularly enamoured with her singing, then. I was too young to appreciate her or many other singers of that day. About a week after this performance, I saw a TV special featuring legendary Greek singer, Nana Mouskouri. I was hooked. She formed the benchmark for singers for me. There were singers like Mireille Mathieu of France; Miriam Makeba of South Africa; Roger Whittaker, also of South Africa and ABBA to name a few who did appeal to me. I missed out on the magic of Sarah Vaughn, Queen, Led Zeppelin and a myriad of other great soloists and groups because of my musical infatuation with Nana, (she would not have been happy with me for being so "closed.') Thanks to KZbin, I have discovered the richness of these other artists' legacies.

This is one of the best versions of this song. It's the mid 1960s I'm 14 yrs old living in Guyana & one afternoon about 5pm, just out the blue this song came on, on the radio. When it ended, I was mesmerized & I loved it ever since. Great seeing Miss fancy Nancy performing it, vocally powerful.

This is my favorite song in the entire world. Nancy Wilson is one the best singers of all time. Her range, class, and elegance 😮💨. I play this song multiple times a day. I want you to know how sharp that jump is at 1:07. She said in an interview when asked about how she could have it all. Married to a handsome Presbyterian minister and had two beautiful children she had the reputation to choose her venues. She said that she surrounded herself with people that loved her and that enabled her success. She then winks at her husband in the corner and you can feel his love for her off camera. This woman was a phenomenal specimen!

I know we all have our opinions but the Nancry Wilson critics that always knock her singing with lots of emotion & bring dramatic, is whats sets her apart from other women performers singing standards. The critics complain loudly that sehe should sound like her recordings and be very polite and mannered. these people are very aggravating she wants to captivate you live!! If its to much for you listen to her recordings only. Shes a "Fiery" performer live shes not Shirley or Carmen she's Nancy quite being so critical most people love it
