Thanks for the video on one of my favorite drinks! I’m no longer at hunt room but across the street on the new nobu inspired Japanese fusion cocktail rooftop bar at orions roof! If you do trip to Virginia Beach I still suggest the hunt room where my mentors James and Matt still work and then come across to nerd out over Japanese whisky and have this cocktail from me! Cheers guys!

I think I'm speaking for everybody when I say, that we want your opinion on adding an orange twist!
@colesweeney53244 жыл бұрын
Hahah originally in my notes I did specify an orange twist and then our clientele was so obsessed with the 2005 trend of smoking drinks that I would flame grated cinnamon to the drink as well but that neither hurt nor helped the drink so usually just expressed orange. So definitely orange twist that bitch.

Here’s a great recipe for a drink. Basil martini 🍸. It’s not mine, but a former fellow bartender here at Trabocco kitchen and cocktails in alameda, CA. 10 basil leaves add one cube or 2 into your shaker and muddle the heck out of it, the add 2 ounces of vodka, 1 ounce of triple sec and 1 ounce of fresh lime juice. Shake with ice and double strain into a coupe. Garnish with basil leave. Cheers

This strikes me as a mashup of the Black Manhattan and a Martinez. Both of which I like immensely. I use Absaroka barrel aged gin in my Martinez, and love it. I’ll try this with it.
@colesweeney53244 жыл бұрын
Bravo Whiskey I’ve gotten that a lot making this for other bartenders I guess the distinction of it being more of a martini is in the orange bitter profile rounding out and bridging the sweet and dry profiles but essentially yes.
@bravowhiskey46844 жыл бұрын
Cole Sweeney I’ve been using orange bitters in my Martinez since I feel it’s more period-correct. I like that drink just about anyway it can be done, but if you can get your hands on Absaroka, it’s incredible. In fact, I’m going to go make this right now. Thanks for your response, you crazy genius!

Cole Sweeney ok, that’s friggin incredible. Just like Leandro’s experience, the gin dominates and devolves into averna, but dried by maraschino. It might not be so subtle with a different rye, but only commies don’t like Rittenhouse. This drink is amazing.

Please could you do the Henry’s Old Fashioned recipe I sent you a while back? The recipe is, again, take 2-2&1/4 ounces Jameson whiskey (it doesn’t make the same flavour properly with other Irish whiskeys, and non Irish whiskeys just aren’t it), 3/4-1 ounce St~Germaine elderflower liqueur, and a solid dash or two of angostura bitters, shake with ice thoroughly, strain into a rocks glass, and garnish with a lime twist. Even if you don’t do it for the channel, give it a taste and let me know what you think? I created it over the course of a week of testing and can proudly say it is my favourite drink, and I would love to hear your opinions.
@henryeccleston73814 жыл бұрын
And for anyone about to jump in and say it’s not an old fashioned: it is old fashioned adjacent with a distinct sugar syrup (half the liqueur is syrup), bitters, whiskey, and some dilution in the form of the vigorous shake and the lower alcohol content of the liqueur. Sugar, whiskey, bitters, diluted, it’s close enough that I feel no shame calling it that, and it is served in a short glass, and old fashioned in the name helps bartenders remember that when I order it for the first time in a few weeks.
