EDS ECHO Summit: Fatigue Virtual Summit, October 21, 2023
This talk will discuss the importance of orthostatic intolerance (OI) as a common and treatable contributor to fatigue. We will discuss practical methods of identifying OI in the office setting, then move on to how to treat OI, emphasizing medication management as well as some conditions to consider when the expected improvements are not forthcoming.
Dr. Rowe is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His clinical and research interests have focused on medical conditions characterized by chronic fatigue. He has directed the Chronic Fatigue Clinic at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center since 1996, where he is the inaugural recipient of the Sunshine Natural Wellbeing Foundation Chair in Chronic Fatigue and Related Disorders.

My POTS doctor has no interest in what is causing my POTS. I told her that I could have EDS according to a geneticist. She said that it didn't matter because POTS is treated the same way whether someone has EDS or not.

That's true. see the lecture by EDS POTS expert NZ Dr Fraser Burling at the Australian POTs foundation website under events then click conference. He spoke at hte 2022 POTS unmasked conference adn you can watch the video of his particular talk, very useful on EDS and POTS. he also has a talk, similar, on the website under webinars (click on top under events). They are very useful as are other talks on management. The only difference would perhaps be seeing a physio for EDS but POTS management is the same.

Is this still a valid diagnostic path if the symptoms aren't constant? Some days there's little to almost none while other days the person can have tachycardic episodes even fully at rest?
