You've been doing good journalism here. UNRWA is vital to Gaza, and Israel's tearing at it is costing lives. For 75 years, this agency has been more than fulfilling its mission. Palestinians, especially Gazans need their experience and expertise in handling the logistics of dealing with this crisis. These are people the community knows and trusts. I agree that Lex Takkenberg that their scope and tasks may need to be tweaked, but they must be an integral part of the continuing relief/aid efforts and the rebuilding process. Much respect to him and his colleagues, especially in Gaza, who have served above and beyond for the Palestinian people. ❤️🇵🇸✊🇮🇪

Thank you Nora and Lex. This topic is one of the really tough ones to realize . After watching UNWatch videos they had a guest that offered some interesting insight of the motivation behind this UNRWA campaign. Einat Wilf made a speech in a Summit held by Unwatch (which itself seemed like a public television membership drive) where the host and his panel of guest were basically asking donors countries to re-route their donations from UNRWA into a "new program" which they didn't name saying " its not important which new program". Even worse is this guest suggested to the donors the manner in which they would provide service to qualified Palestinians- to receive aid, Palestinians would be required to "severe themselves from all association to UNRWA" and remove themselves from their rosters (which she remarked sort of under her breath "if they still exist"), they would be required to agree they had no right to return to their lands, they would have to admit they were not refugees and agree to never participate in activity to liberate Palestine. It made me sick and not one guest delivered their testimonies from their heart they all read from a screen and there were obviously key points and buzz words throughout the summit and all of them criticized the UN even ridiculed and enticed some UN personally. It was hard to watch it made me sick

The Australian Govt & the Australian Parliament must NOW take on board the call from the Australian People to review & reset "our" foreign policy & "OUR" defence program, given we are ensnarled in actively supporting acts of bloody genocide & appalling Starvation Warfare against the Palestinian People, being executed by the US backed israelis Govt. Not once has genociding Palestinians been openly discussed as a Foreign Policy & Defence Plan - quite the reverse. It has all been done stealthily in the Manner of a Govt & Public Service "captured" by a private Lobby Groups who share values with CIA "assets" in place in Australia's governance structures since 1970's

A lot of majority white countries were at one point engaged in some colonial project. Some were settler colonies like both American continents and Australia, but also Britain in India and Northern Ireland. Some were instead stealing resources and people for slavery, like again Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain and Portugal.

Lex kept mentioning USA with the hope they might change their mind and immediately start funding UNRA, USA have said for at least a year they are going to stop funding UNRA, I believe, unless I'm mistaken. Egypt has recently been given Billions of dollars by the EU and others, that money I believe is to except palastinians into its deserts, or does anyone have another explanation for The handover of that money to Egypt. Thankyou EI for your hard work helping the oppressed people of Gaza, also thankyou Lex.

The money you speak of was a further debt trap that Egypt foolishly accepted. The major bribe (which was approx. 20 B + debt forgiveness of the IMF) was refused by Egypt because they knew it could lead to a real civil uprising if they did.

Never thought I'd witness another genocide in my lifetime, back when I used to study the Holocaust at school and very naively thought the world had evolved too much for such a thing to ever happen again. That's why I've been involved in pro-Palestine activism since the early 2000s, including, among other things, providing a few translations for the EI (before 2012, though, so before Nora's time).
