Nice video, oh, yes. I also needed the winch on the Arctic Cat. Mud, almost above the rear wheels. My feet were already wet and at home there was a pile of dirt in the yard. A real mess. No matter what the weather, I always have a tarp over the hammock. I hate it when rain surprises me in my sleep. In the hammock I put a tarp, because of wind and so on. Always fits. I am only 66 and not as sensitive as you, you drive a Super Rollator with a roof and I drive one without. Best regards from Frankfurt and take good care of yourselves.
@TheEmporiumOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
The number one thing I get first is the winch! It a must for remote riding especially alone! I normally put up the tarp but pulled to one side so I can watch the stars - this time I was sure of no rain 😄 I was wrong! LOL - Best wished from Canada! 🇨🇦🇩🇪

Hi Michael !! Glad to see you back on trail with your loyal friends. Simon should get a gold medal for jumping that HUGE creek ! Esme jumping the utv door was so funny ! Now you need to keep the windows up, not to prevent things from getting in but to prevent things from getting out!! So the P5 or the argo might have been better in that particular situation and probably alot worst in many other situations. It's a never ending dilema for the off and on road rider. Take care, hope to see you soon !

Hey Buddy ! good to see ya posting a video, and great to see the pups ! Man I Laughed when Esme jumped out of the SXS and went right into the water lol Dogs... I see you have the Big Horn 2.0 tires on your SXS, those are a decent tire for coming on the machine stock but the 1.0's are better... Heavier, more rugged, last longer and less punctures. Saying all of that, the Defender... and all SXS for that matter are obviously much heavier than an ATV... yet many ppl run tires on their SXS that were designed for ATV's.... I know you drive pretty gingerly, and are easy on your gear (like myself) but maybe a tire upgrade could help ya in that swampy stuff. I know the Carnivores are a good all around tire for SXS. I also like the Blackwater Evo's. You can sometimes run actual truck tires like BFG All Terrains, or Mud Terrains, but they are a harder compound and will run rougher. Whoops I wrote a short story haha Thanks for sharing !
@TheEmporiumOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Hey Maritimer! Thanks for the comment - I've been keeping up on your vids too - Love the basket upgrade for Wendell! Totally spot on for the tires! The Big Horn 1.0 are better IMHO but the 2.0 are fine for what I'm doing. I don't want to get mud tires as 90% of my driving is on reasonable terrain and some gravel. For a SxS a good 7ply tire is recommended but most manufactures cheap out on 3 ply to save money 😖 - If I was in very muddy country I'd just sling on the tracks 😁 - Take care! Michael

Glad to see you 3 back . I have the Atlas type suspension. I alos have the Warbonnet cinch buckles with the cord on them. Really easier and simpler than my atlas straps. I also have the cinch buckles from superior gear in Mn. Basically supposed to be easier to loosen in cold waether. The Warbonnet buclles are my favorite of the 3 so far. Now I just have to wait for my new Dream Hammock. It is suppoed to be here on July 17 th , 2020. according to the USPS tracking Numbers. 7-8 weeks in the making. I was testing the suspensions with an old Clarks Outdoors hammock.Sent it too the Hospice Hammock recycling center . AKA: The Dumpster. Hope to see more videos soon Mike.. Thos Flying bugs were just doing a peaceful protest on your vehicle. Might need more pepper spray even for them. Ha Ha. Stay Safe.

Hey Jeffrey - I've never used the Atlas type and I think the lack of adjustability would drive me insane! Ohhh new gear!! Let me know how the Dream Hammock works out!! What model did you go for? I do like the Slacker suspension but I also have the whoopie slings and the Beetle Buckles from Dutchware. They all work well but the slacker is set and forget, plus I don't need to use tree straps! 😉

@@TheEmporiumOutdoors I Ordered the Raven by Dream Hammock. Double layers. WoodlandCamo bottom layer with Orange interior and burnt orange top cover and a bug net. It is symetrical . I can lay left or right lay and no specifice head or foot end. I ordered orange for top cover. just incase I would ever need view a a signaling device in case of emrergencies. Once tarp out of the way. Also to help if I'm out during Pa hunting seasons . .Aircraft could see it better for me or I would use it for some one else if they needed help. i customized it. I also had a gear loops added to each end.. you can also get the Ready to ship (RTS) hammocks. The Sparrow hammock comes in a 12 ft version now. i belive you have to customize the Sparrow to symetrical.

Thanks for the info about the bugs! Is there a resource I could use to time a trip that would avoid severe bug conditions? Something that might predict problems based on rain fall and time of year? I would be planning a trip coming up from southern PA for a trip with my son on ATVs with tent camping.
@TheEmporiumOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nathan - There is no clear times that I know of but May to September are typical bug months. However, this years has been a VERY dry spring as the snowfall was minimal, this normally indicates that the mosquito population will be small as they have less wet areas to breed in. If the temperature drops in the evenings to below freezing or close to it - that will normally tell you the bugs will not survive the night but you can still have nice warm day time temperatures. It also depends on what part of Canada. I'd maybe call the local tourism office in the area you plan to ride or a local camp ground and ask about the mosquito situation. Hope that helps 👍

I'm looking at getting into UTV Camping, I've been researching different UTV's, do you have any thoughts on the Can-Am Defender 6x6?
@TheEmporiumOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dale - I almost bought the 6x6 as the bed is large enough to build a 6ft camper on! Soooo close but I considered the overall length might be a problem in the trails. Also, I got a good deal on the HD10 with the Cab. I guess it depends on your terrain if the 6x6 will work for you but it would be near the top of my shopping list!
