As for the pockets/storage, I also bought the optional pocket sleeve to add to the side of the cot (hangs outside) as well as the gun scabbard (same). I'm thinking an awning/porch tarp set up to protect those from the weather and to enable me to stand up under shelter. Nothing like fresh chicken !! Esme's timing is always spot on for hopping into a freshly made camp bed. What a good girl (that one).
@TheEmporiumOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Yup - I have the pocket thing but not the gun holder - I also looked at the under cot storage sling thing - seemed interesting. I'd love to see what you come up with for the awning! Esme is always looking for a nice spot to lay down - lol 🐶🐶🐶

If that tent is made to go with that cot , then the fly should definitely hang down below the cot , otherwise it seems like rain would pool between the cot and the floor of the tent , jmo .

So there is an Elite Fly that does go to the floor as an accessory. The tent is sold to use on a cot or used solo, so they sell the shorter fly so you can use in on the ground and the cot. 👍

Great information. I just found your channel this weekend. I bought myself a bunch of new camping gear this year including a big tarp I’m going to try out. I normally sleep in the back of my SUV but after watching your video on the kamp rite Tent cot I’m really wanting one now. I found an oversized one for 165.00 American on Amazon, that is $100 off what their webpage sells them for. Depending on how well the tarp thing works out for me I might be buying one based on your recommendation, thank you for the great information. I’ve been enjoying your videos and your dog is adorable. I love the bubble thoughts 😁

The pricing on Amazon is awesome! Let me know what you decide! :) Happy camping Michael & Esme!

Us army sleep system .... you'll never look back if you get one, I managed to get one here in Britain several years ago, brilliant peace of kit , when used with a camp bed like you've got and a self inflating thermo rest, it's very warm and comfortable and most of the time to warm in fact unless half unzipped at temperatures above freezing I would be cooking in it...., it only becomes really nice at below freezing with just minimal kit on just bear grills style trousers and a t shirt, if I was wearing what you had on I'd be roasting inside the thing, I've been down to negative six Celsius and slept like a baby in it, I've not tested it below that as we've not had weather colder than that in Gloucestershire for quit some years, it's waterproof windproof snowproof and extremely breathable because of the gortex outer layer, it is I think the ultimate survival shelter.
@TheEmporiumOutdoors6 жыл бұрын
Sooo...the MSS - I've used it and own it - but would not recommend it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4XLn4eEhbhmjdE - for the temperatures it claims to be suitable for it is not! UNLESS you follow the US army guide and dress appropriately inside the bag. This is odd as It's a very tight squeeze even for me @ 5'8" and less than 200 lbs without cloths. For the same money or less the Canadian Army down sleeping bags are much better and are much warmer - in summer use 1 bag - in -40c use them both and a gortex outer. Sorry but the MSS is not on my recommended list. I understand if it works for you :)
@b57ecv6 жыл бұрын
Mine fit's fine I don't feel confined inside it there's ample room, perhaps its because you put the therma rest inside, I just lye on top of mine on a camp bed plus I've never experienced temperature as low as you get over there, perhaps somebody cooked your's when and if it was washed, there supposed to be cleaned and dried on a cool temperature because it can damage the insulation in the two bag's , and they shouldn't be stored away compressed for long periods of time as this can be bad as well ,
@TheEmporiumOutdoors6 жыл бұрын
You're right, I did put the therm-a-rest in the Gortex bivi and that was a mistake but testing even after then it's a little snug. I always store my sleeping bags in large cotton storage bags that I hang in my basement - good practice as you mention :) I just feel for what they claim to be they are over rated. I'll make a video of the Canadian army sleeping bag so you can see the difference. Thanks for commenting back :)

Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like the Rainfly would be much longer. Extend to the ground this would make it a nice area to store your shoes and other equipment under the cot with protection from rain and other elements. Also with the short fly, it looks like if it did rain there would be room for the water to settle between the cot and the tent which doesn't seem to be a good design.

Have you used this combination in the rain? As you pointed out, the rain fly doesn't extend very far down. My concern is the rain would collect on the cot and run under the tent material. I think it would be better if the fly extended over the edge of the cot.

I have a question about the cot. How difficult was it to put the last bar in place when you were setting it up? I have heard that it is very difficult to attach that last piece because it has to stretch very hard. Also, I was looking at this cot and tent and noticed there was a cover that went all the way to the ground if you were going to use it with the cot. That would probably keep you warmer I would think, or at least less wind, and or moisture off of you.
@TheEmporiumOutdoors Жыл бұрын
So the cot is sold as the one shown in this video OR the pivot arm model. The pivot arm model makes it much easier to put the last bar in place. I'd recommend the pivot arm model if you don't have strongish upper body strength as the pivot helps locate the bar easier. The Elite Fly is the long version that goes all the way to the ground. You can see this in any other videos where I show the full setup - Hope that helps! 👍

Hi Steve, It's Esme :) - she not a trained gun dog but she has the right instinct. She can smell them and push them up to fly so I can take a shot sometimes. She will also retrieve the bird (sometimes) but she needs more training. The cot is great - very big and comfortable and almost half the price of the Cabela's version. I just had to try the tent for the extra $80 and I'm glad I did. Thanks for commenting!
