Highway 395 may be the most beautiful road we've ever taken our RV on! We had a blast driving our vintage camper van across the most underrated highway in California. It winds through mountains and forests, past historic towns, unbelievable nature and pristine lakes. Sure highway 1 is great, but if you want jaw-dropping mountain views for days on end, this is the ultimate route through California! 😍
Coordinates to the secret hot tub at Travertine Springs goo.gl/maps/YCxspKKHjMTaH3Vi8
Places we visited in the video:
- Alabama Hills
- Western Film Museum
- Erick Schat's Bakery
- Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest
- Convict Lake
- Willow Springs RV Resort
- Travertine Hot Springs

Glad you enjoyed it! And we kept saying the same thing. The state has literally everything! Mountains, deserts, forests, beaches, lakes, some of the highest and lowest points in the world - it's wild!

My state is beautiful, politics have ruined it. If your on the 395 visit parker lake by June lake loop and brewed awakening in big pine. Plenty of hot springs to enjoy along the way. Don't let the water up your nose.

I have lived in the SF Bay Area all my life and Highway 395 is one of my all time favorite areas and the fishing is world class! if you haven't been further north to Burney falls, fall river area in Shasta County you are in for a treat there as well. The only thing ugly in California is the politics...enjoy!

I love that you covered your trip to Lone Pine, Bishop and the Bristlecone Pine, and the areas near Bridgeport because that is an area of California that not many people even know about. Every October they have the Lone Pine Film Festival, which is a must go to at least once on your bucket list. I was born in Bishop and my dad was Postmaster & we did our skiing in Mammoth. I consider it one of the most beautiful parts of California other than the Big Sur ocean area. Well done episode!👏👏👏

You both make me smile! I love the banter that the 2 of you share. I started watching when you were working on Clementine. I was going through a divorce at that time. Then when you shared about the death of a parent, I just sat with tears rolling down my face. My father had just died in December 2022. I am around the same age as your parents. Keep having fun! I've lived in California all my life (76yrs.) and have only been on a small portion of this road although it's been an ambition of mine. This video has inspired me to "hit the road" and see the backside of the Sierras. I've seen many places in California but for some reason haven't really done this section. Time to make plans. Heading to Rocky Mountain National Park in a few weeks so this might be something to do after we return. Keep up the good work!

@@davidday2373 Not for us Brits. The whole idea of a lake in the middle of a desert was pretty amazing. And one that had undrinkable water too. Even more wild. Nope, Mono lake was definitely one of the more memorable spots for us. Would I rush back? Maybe not. So it is not as good as Tahoe, Sonora or Yosemite. But still pretty amazing.
