Out of curiosity, how do newer HVAC systems stack up to older ones? Are they a lot more complex and prone to breaking down, or have things become streamlined and easier to work with?
@jt500_salvage3 күн бұрын
@@PunmasterSTPif you are asking me I’ll happily reply. In all honesty things were built to last years ago, nowadays it’s all about items being recycled in 15-20yrs. The fans themselves I feel are a lot more fragile both mechanically and electrically as they have moved to direct drive EC fans (inside AHU’s). The actual AHU’s themselves I’d say are a lot better in terms of quality and accessibility for maintaining. I suppose it’s line everything, technology takes over…VSD’s seem to be disappearing now in favour of EC fans with built in smart technology that will control fan speeds based on either air volumes or pressures. I am in the process of taking delivery of 50 new AHU’s to site for a client, all in separate sections, joining them and then leakage testing them. On a side note, Ziehl EC fans seem to be breaking down a lot lately with failed welds on the fan frames, Nicotra on the other hand never seem to fail.
@PunmasterSTP3 күн бұрын
@@jt500_salvage That's interesting, and thank you so much for your reply! I keep up with engineering and technology mostly as a hobby and know essentially nothing about HVAC. I did imagine a lot of newer components would be less durable, so that makes sense...

this is an incredible resource. i'm 19 and and just getting into the HVAC field and beside my mentor i don't really have any other source for information. i really appreciate the time and effort went into this especially in the diagrams and schematics designed, much easier to understand over someone trying to explain a specific system, part or unit.

I had to pause the video at 18:00 minutes just to show appreciation for how much I've learned so far from your knowledge. I'm brand spankin' new to the HVAC world and I start technical school July 5th. I'm taking HVAC/R and PLC Systems. I hope to start some sort of basic work at least halfway through the school year if I get lucky. Can anyone give me any advice on starting off fresh? This is a major decision I've made but I also look at it as an investment for my life and career. I'm 27 and I need good career like this one. I would appreciate any advice from anyone out there in the field. Thank you so much for this video. New sub here.
@EngineeringMindset7 жыл бұрын
Hey Bodega, really glad to hear the videos are helping you and that you've gone into HVAC. It'll definitely be an interesting career choice. My advice would be to ask everyone everything, if you see something and you don't know what it is and how it works then ask around until you find someone who does. Never be embarrassed to ask or to learn, no one was born with knowledge, it is something we acquire. If a service engineer comes in, shadow them and pester them so you know exactly what they are doing and why. Write down the model numbers of equipment and ask the manufacturers for their service guides. Lastly, don't over complicate things, large systems are complex but if you break each part down it becomes much more simple.
