diesels always have black oil instantly so the color checking is only for gas engines, except checking for head gasket leak of course. the transmission fluid is a pain to change in a manual and not really necessary. its more about the filter in an automatic or a flush when it makes noises while shifting. i ve owned manuals with nearly 300k kms and the transmission fluid was never changed and the transmission was still like new, except for the clutch of course but at that point its okay to have clutch wear

Nearly all power steering fluids are a basic Dexron II IIIi autotransmision fluid. Fluids sold labeled power steering fluid are autotransmision fluid with some additives only required for autotransmisions omitted from the blend.

Oil is so easy to check and understand. It’s the most important fluid in the car after the coolant and transmission fluid. The oil on the dip stick should read between the high mark and the low mark. If it’s above the high mark you got way too much oil in the engine if it’s below the low mark you need to add oil. You want it to read between the high and low marks. Colour of the oil can tell you how old the oil is getting. A clear colour is fresh oil a brown colour is a little used a dark brown colour it’s time to change black it’s gone to far.

Highly recommend to change your oil at least every 5k. It is amazing how bad the oil gets even if you use full synthetic oil. Never go 10k. The oil gets seriously thick and leads to oil starvation

The lifetime transmission fluid is a myth. Change it every 50 to 60 thousand miles due to companies not putting filters in the transmission.

It is lifetime transmission fluid, just the lifetime is reduced due to no fluid changes… I would never let transmission fluid go for more than 40k miles, cheap insurance

Comprehensive, timely n useful video. I m owner of old disel car. There may not be life-time oil for engines as claimed by car producers. I m from india. Here, brake oil is used to work for clutch( manuals) too. I mean only one oil for functions of the both. Likewise, transmission oil is used for shifting gear too. Here, transmission oil is called gear oil. Subject to Limitation of my knowledge, i have not heard of differential oil here. Plz clarify whether transmission oil flow is designed to work for( as) differentials oil also in india?🎉❤❤❤

Small transmission that are found in smaller machines like motorcycles and dirt bikes etc need higher viscosity to be lubricated properly and also the transmission in motorcycles are basically part of the engine itself unlike cars were the transmission and engine are separated
@varoescal

Most motorcycle motor oils are designed to lubricate the transmission as well. That is why, you should not use regular car motor oil in a motorcycle.

Nothing is "life time" when it comes to any machine be it a manual bike or a car a train or a plane they are machines and machines serve doesn't matter if it still looks "pristine" and little to no wear on a part or component im saying this with regard to a period of extended time you still replace. it all machines have a depreciation value

Seriously bad information about semi-synthetic oil it was historically a compromise substitute for fully synthetic motor oils. Changing automatic transmission fluid on modern cars is no longer simple job and best left to a specialists or dealer.

@thejohnbeck
@thejohnbeck 5 күн бұрын
A little over is Ok. But not much. There are suction tubes you can use to take some out from the top. Or you can open the drain plug and take out just a little. Whenever draining fluids, always make sure to open the fill point, or you could be in for a lot of hassle. But hey, I only remember that half the time myself😂
@ashresearcher
@ashresearcher 5 күн бұрын
@ is that because the fill point lets air in and avoids a vacuum when draining?
@thejohnbeck
@thejohnbeck 5 күн бұрын
@@ashresearcher that is true, but the bigger uhoh is if the fill point is stuck. you drain all the oil, then have no way of getting it back in, and you can't drive the car. for example, it's much better if you find out that the oil cap won't come off. then you drive to the mechanic if you can't take it off yourself, no tow truck required.
