Yatzee has a point. I want a game where you play as giant destructive monster killing and breaking things in some dystopian society. Basically it's you just royally wrecking crap while in the background some rebel group takes advantage of the chaos to fight back to something. Imagine what would happen if you took Godzilla and dropped him right in the middle of district 1 from the hunger games. You aren't there to free the people or fight for justice, you just want to smash shit and some good gets done to the sidelines because of it.

There's a minigame in Ratchet and Clank Going Commando where you play as giant Clank and fight a robot on a moon and smash buildings and such. That ps2 minigame is ten times better than this entire game.

Godzilla: Unleashed is a fabulous example of what a Godzilla game can be. Heaps of different characters, a satisfying deathmatch mode with good AI and heaps of replayability, especially against friends. High skill cap with lots of learn-able mechanics and skillful elements. Hate those crystals though...

Schools have even less tolerance for smoking than they did before, and even the star child nutters will draw the line before smoking, and most people aren't them. Smoking is also way less common, at least in the US; fuck, the smoking age got raised last year and I didn't hear a peep about it until months later.

I'm a Godzilla fan and I'll keep my opinion short. If you're a super-fan of all things Godzilla you *might* like this game. If you're just a casual fan don't waste your time. It's trying to be more of Godzilla simulator than it is trying to be a good game. Great for super-fans, not so much for everyone else.

nicko bagaskara the critical penguin well in all fairness other than the objectives (which suck) the game would mostly be fine as long as you just want to be godzilla. it's like a lot of licensed games if you are a hardcore fan of the license you will look past most of the flaws (usually anyway megafans only got more pissed about colonial marines) and insist it was fun anyway.

I actually owned this game for about five minutes when I ordered a copy of Asura´s Wrath on Amazon and they send me a copy of this instead for some ungodly reason. They told me that I could keep it for free when I ordered my original game again but I ended up selling it for about five bucks at Game Stop, getting about three more dollars than I expected.

As a Godzilla fan, I appreciate that this game captures the feel of the movies the best out of any Godzilla game, from the sound effects to the little easter eggs sprinkled throughout. As a casual video game player, I'm frustrated that it's so lacking in content, variety and polish, it's so monotonous and boring. This is such a wasted opportunity, Godzilla deserves better than this.

I never particularly saw what they were good for, but then I came to live here in Asia and they're more respected out here than back in the U.K. I currently live in Japan, and it is foretold in many Japanese legends that Queen Elizabeth Mk II will be the savior in nullifying the threat caused by Godzilla. However, we haven't had an Empire in fucking DECADES, and all they do now is live off people's taxes. Pisses me off (and I don't pay taxes yet - too poor for that shit). Whilst I'm not condoning Romanov-ing them, I'd sure as shit celebrate the dismantling of the monarchy. Sell off Buckingham Palace and all the shit. One thing that always bugged me about this review is that he says that you never see the damage Godzilla is doing from the perspective of a regular-sized person, when you regularly switch perspectives with regular people throughout the game. It's a bit difficult to miss something that occurs so frequently in the game.

I think the camp hilarity of men in rubber suits hitting one another unconvincingly may have been lost on Yahtzee. By the sounds of things the "moving slowly to simulate being big" thing didn't translate well to gameplay and that's understandable, but I see no reason to rag on the aesthetic. To fans of the series that's part of the charm.

Yahtzee, it's quite clear you've never played any of the previous Godzilla games on the PS2 or Xbox, which started with Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee. Every subsequent Godzilla game that followed, including the one you reviewed, is based on the same arena combat game, graphics engine and sounds. Even the list of characters and their moves hasn't changed much from the last one, Godzilla Unleashed, which come out for (you guessed it) the PS2.
