My girlfriends 2011 Jeep Liberty 3.7l v6 engine blew up on us on the way to Tucson from the Albuquerque balloon fiesta. Dropped a valve seat and locked the motor up. Destroyed a few things. Dad and me get it on the road again for under 500 (hopefully)

So happy to see someone in America repairing the engine of his vehicle. Just hearing the number of times perfectly good vehicles are crushed over there due to a just a blown head gasket makes me sick. The American spirit lives on. 👍

Just thought I would share this thought I learned from another old man . To remove rust from old rusty door locks and things , I fill a bucket with white vinegar - put my parts in to some for 3-4 days or more . I take power washer and wash the parts . They look like brand new. It really works great for the old rusty Model A wheels and for gas tanks . Pad locks, window regulator etc . I love the trip you did with the 2,000 mile trip with your dad .

Travis, every one of your videos are entertaining. I have watched every one you've produced. You are doing a great job and your Dad is an information guru. I sort of thought he and I were a bit closer in age but then I realized I worked in a Buick dealership in 65-68. So, I guess he's a bit younger than me. I'm 81.

My daughter had a Jeep Liberty, but it was the older body style. Also, a 3.7 liter. When she sold it, the mileage was well over two hundred thousand. It treated her pretty good other than the gas mileage which I do not believe was very good. I hope you did not get any gasket material into the coolant or oil passages.

I have a love hate relationship with my Jeeps. My 1993 Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 L, is way more reliable than my 2006 Hemi Commander. Wouldn't be surprised if the gen 1 Hemi's cylinder deactivation causes a dropped valve in the future. The Commander's like a Cherry on a Daimler/Turd Sunday!

Any Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge product with a .7 in the engine size are trouble. The 3.7 is famous for dropping valve guides. A friend of mine dropped one before any other damage pulled the head and had a machine shop do all the valve guides on that head. I warned him to do the other head as well while he had the intake off and the exhaust dropped but he thought he knew better than I did. He ran his Dodge Nitro for three days and dropped a valve guide on the other head. Live and learn.
