Travis does his first fly and drive on his favorite truck. 1st gen Cummins. This truck was a snow plow truck that’s since been abandoned in the hills of Iowa. Will it run and drive 1300 miles back to Tucson? Find out in this episode.

Yah but the guy in Arizona selling a 1st gen knows he can get 5 digits for it where as the rot box in Iowa is probably a couple grand at best. Body swaps are easy enough but finding a 1st gen rot free cab.....

For those running into voltage regulator problems, the ones sold at O'Reillys, Autozone, or wherever don't like to hold up in these trucks. Some last a couple months, but most last days or weeks. Got a transpo c8313 regulator and has worked flawlessly for over 3 years now.

Amazing that the truck made it 1,300 miles. That 70s hotel is a trip, and I've seen my fair share of interesting small town hotels having driven between the west coast and the Midwest quite a few times to visit family. The second proportioning valve in the back is most likely a load proportioning valve. At least on some chevys they had an arm going to the axle that moved when load was applied to the truck. The more weight that the truck carried the more pressure was allowed to go to the rear brakes. It was a good idea but now is just another thing to break
@101computerman
@101computerman Жыл бұрын
The rear "proportioning valve" is actually dodges abs module for the rear breaks. Mines been long since disconnected by a previous owner but I can still hear the solinoids in it clicking when I first turn the keay on and it does it's self test. Might hook it back up but unlikely

Yes, sir. People would look at that truck and write it off as a piece of junk because it is so rusted out. But like yourself I see plenty of good parts on that truck and it is complete on the drive train or in industry terms the powerplant. Beings it's from the area of the country where there is snow and salt the rust on the body and the frame is not uncommon. I purchased a 1972 Chevrolet four-wheel drive from a fellow that has bad rust in the cab and such but like this Dodge the drivetrain was all there. That was in May of 79. I still have the truck and do drive it. Those farmers down in the midsection of the country just do not feed hundreds of people but try millions of people. This country is the bread basket of the world. Enjoyed the video.

Still kicking myself, several years ago when I was a bright and bushy eyed 17 year old, my grandpa offered me an ‘89 4x4 Cummins for $800. Body had some light rust, but the truck ran and drove flawlessly. I already had a ‘99 Tacoma that I had purchased recently and I didn’t want to pay insurance on 2 vehicles. He ended up selling it to someone else and I’ve never seen that truck again. On the bright side, 12 years after buying the truck, I still have the Tacoma. 480k miles, I bought the truck at 200k. Never had any real issues with the truck.

One of "Traplines and Inlines" the channel name of a lad building a log home in canada. He found a first gen in great condition. His channel name being he is a trapper first, and he loves the inline cummins engines. It is a first rate channel so I have watched this young man, Josh, build and trap coyotes and then finally start building his own home in the outback. You and many have a struggle watching him for his lingo is a bit much for the sensitive ears. I find him very rewarding in the fact he is honest to the letter and has worked very hard to get his place made here in america... canada is part of america if I am not mistaken... kind of wish they were just a continuation of the usa.. You go back a ways and watch him try to rebuild his own automatic transmission in his ramcharger, the full size one as it was his first rig. He got a second gen and done his own repairs... the front axle being the weak point in the shift rail that puts that front axle into gear as they don't have a warn hub on them stock .... Sure his problems are self induced yet for a young boy to man is quite a journey. Right now hides are just not worth the troubles to get so the coyote goes without check and other animals suffer from a over abundance of them. I try to get people past his lingo fora as his trials by fire are so very real. Yes he did finish high school and did some college yet to hear him speak, doesn't sound like it took him far in english
