Building my first house now by myself and saving a TON of MONEY! I watch a lot of videos, defiantly a TON of yours! Thanks Dude

Built my own house, as one man working alone. It is a two story and it took us years, since we paid for everything as we went, and every stick had to be hauled in to our remote location by myself with a pickup and a small trailer. We only raised interior walls though, since the frame is post and beam. Let me tell you that moving and setting the 30 foot poles that run the center line all alone was a bit of a challenge, but not as hard as some might think. After that the 22 foot poles seemed easy. Building our own house saved us so much money, that even though our income is not as high as some of our family and friends, not having a 1200.00 a month payment meant that we lived just as well if not better, than those with the higher incomes. As I mention though, it tooks us years, while we lived in a mobile home right beside it. Maybe not an endeavor for everyone, but I would not change a thing. There is no feeling like it!!

I built two houses with block exterior walls. This week I will start building my son’s house which will be the first one made out of wood completely. I’m learning a lot from your videos. Thanks you for sharing your knowledge.

Building a shed as practice for a tiny house. Thanks for your videos!

That’s a great idea! You will learn the basics for sure doing that. It’s interesting how shed framing and a house are very comparable. Good luck with your build!

Do you just attach the Walls to the foundation with framing nails?

Thanks for the video on bracing. I’m currently building my own house, slab and utilities all done, trusses built, now I’m about to start throwing up walls (now that the lumber prices have gone down a little)

Glad to help. I hope prices come down too!

I personally believe you should hang the ply wood off the bottom of the wall the distance of the floor Joyce and sill plate so when stood and nailed your walls will be tied together with floor then I do the same with gable roof ends it ties them to the wall way better but I see your method a lot on KZbin people just plywood to edge of each section or level all I'm saying is its weaker and easier but I'll keep doing it my way

Are all of those tacked in braces and nails easily pulled and removed? I've only used the nail gun to get floor joist in. At one point i had to cut the first two nails of half the joist with a sawl saw as my OC were off. Maybe a 5lb sledge an pry-bar easily removes all the different temporary support and bracing members? Doing my first framing work on a 14x16 Lean To. Good video though.

Awesome content! Over here in Ohio with basements we usually stand up the 1st floor wall with OSB sheathing flush with the rim joist (rim joist exposed) do you guys do the same thing or does your wall sheathing go all the way down to the rim joist and your bottom plate lines up flush with sub floor instead of the sheathing?

Good job. I’m guessing you do not have wall jacks. I like it though

Making your job harder by not adding your 2ndf top plate & not adding a full corner you only added the end 2x4

In my area 2 x 4 walls are what the local house builders use the majority of the time. Pretty sure every house I've ever lived in was framed with 2 x 4's as well

@@rolanddelacruz6440 Same. I’ve trimmed a lotta houses and besides plumbing walls, I’ve never seen anything besides 2x4s.
