Very well done! I enjoyed the article a lot and can't wait to see what more you might bring in the future! Personally, I found the world building to be both fantastic and highly compelling while also leaving enough open to really build upon in the future. If you plan on working around concepts of this cannon, I would be really interested to know how well actually shutting Oracle down went... as I'd imagine it would be not great, to say the least. Given its main imperative was to maintain the goals of the foundation, I'd imagine it would have a serious issue with the foundation choosing to dissolve itself. Oracle very clearly showed us it has no issues with railroading parts of humanity into doing what it wants, and my assumption is it likely already predicted this outcome, planned for it, and hid the intentions to stop it as we would expect a super intelligent AI to do.

I listened to my first scp here, or maybe it was TheVolgun, on scp 5000 anyways, and for some reason the original video that got me into this, I can't find it, it had more info and more openly talked about what they are fighting against, which was the Holy Sprit, now I'm not into Mandela effects, but I find it highly odd that I can't find it, nor others who made long form videos containing any even near similar narrative or info. I'll have to check out the original file myself and read it over to see if there's been a reality shift.

Sorry for sharing that, but since it is right up our alley, I couldn't resist. This is good stuff, I came around to this just to find out what my then step kids were into. Granted what they were watching was absolutely mind numbing, I went on to finding the wiki read the about section, cleared my watch and search history, typed scp, saw SCP-5000: Why, and said why not, this hooked my love for sci-fi, and really appreciated the teenage gamer cthulu after coming from HorrorBabble.

Yes! And I like how they avoided the trope of the AI being evil. It literally only did what they asked, making their actions even more frightening. They didn't do these things before only because they didn't think of it.
@HalfLight333
@HalfLight333 Жыл бұрын
@applepie explosion I saw a video on KZbin on a different channel discussing the effectiveness of various movie AIs. AUTO from WALL-E ended up being the winner, because it wasn’t “evil” or “taking revenge on humanity.” It was literally just doing what it was programmed to do - and not being human, took it in directions that ended up being horrifying and detrimental to humanity.
@applepieexplosion4030
@applepieexplosion4030 Жыл бұрын
@@HalfLight333 another really good example! The interesting horror that comes from AI villains like those is they're literally just our wants being fulfilled at any cost. Its a way to show how horrible some of your initial desires can be. Or show how little we thought out the things we ask for.

The thaumaturgic IT ritual reminded me of an old friend. He worked for IBM and then Unisys for forty years. He stayed up to date, even in retirement, and could handle anything from bleeding edge hardware to old punch card machines. It reminds me of him because he cosplayed as a wizard in his spare time. He had the full outfit, and a wonderful full white beard. At Christmas, he would do charity Santa Claus appearances. He was a good man and a good friend, we lost him last year. He would have gotten a laugh out of a story where they had to perform dark magic to debug a system.

I like the whole premise of "The Foundation sweeps the apocalypse under the rug via amnesticization and forced simulation of normalcy." but the idea of the anomaly itself could've been more fleshed out to make sense. I dunno, maybe like an anomalous mutation of the moon and the release of a virulent pathogen whose properties match the one of an infovore. It consumes information and releases more of itself into the host, which could be both a human and a computer.

Between an anomaly virus that could affect even people (like the prime minister who talked about the black moon), the foundation deciding that the best thing they have is to make an AI that connects and is powered by the knowledge of EVERYONE in the foundation, and said AI going pretty hardcore of trying to leave nothing but the foundation, halfway through I was pretty much expecting them to try turning it off and the article ending with "And now we all howl together" .... kind of glad I was wrong.

My headcanon for this is that the blight itself is a byproduct of what happens when SCP-447 got mixed with dead bodies. also, its hurts my heart that SCP-999 probably got into that everlasting scream state when it tried to save as many people as possible before getting infected with the blight, screaming because it feels guilty bcoz of what happened.

I'm finally watching this in it's entirety, and man it goes in every direction that modern dystopian sci-fi does, it's so great, I can pinpoint every movie takeaway and it's fun The day the earth stood still -> Terminator (Skynet) -> Soylent green -> more terminator -> Matrix -> Logan's Run Edit: I forgot Equilibrium

The ai had literally convinced them to launch the hypno-drones so to speak, but it was somehow not deviating from its designer's intentions? I was expecting a strait up roko's basilisk moment.

really thought this was gonna be a roko's basilisk type thing at first (eg turns out the AI time travelled into the past and caused the moon anomaly in order to ensure it would be built)

Hi TES! I read a few comments about the visualizer. IMHO It does take away from the artwork. That said I think if you played around with it and make the background the most important part and made the visualizer 40% or less opacity and a whte color, also cut it in half and have it along the top or bottom edge so its there but out of the way. For specials with voice acting or with a darker bloddy theme make it red or something. I do listen to the you in the background but I keep the video on the side to set more mood and ambiance. the visualizer takes that way a fair bit and the motion distracts from my main work or activity. Either way. LOVE your content and breakdowns of the Topic!

After watching the video on the Decompiled God, I was kinda worried that Oracle/SCiPNet had somehow orchestrated the Black Moon incident in order to further its goals, similar to how Skynet orchestrated global internet problems in order to take control of the DoD network in T3. Glad to see that wasn’t the case, tho that still leaves the question of just what the heck caused the incident in the first place. I guess all that data on the anomalous caused SCiPNet’s baseline reality/stability to freak out, and that crack in reality “bled out” from what was originally corrupted data, becoming corrupted reality, and ultimately a Broken Moon ?

Haven't finished the video yet, but the redacted hardware updates have to be civilians. They've already established that the procedure does not actually impair anyone, and it is a super intelligent made up of other intelligences. It has to be civilians or clones
