Fil, this is a mash-up of so many Indonesian local languages, songs, dances, clothes and instruments. Here's some that I could catch. (Fellow Indonesians, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, please don't fry me LOL, rather let's help fill in the blanks if your from that region :D ) Btw, I won't even try translating the songs coz I don't know either, I don't speak any of these local languages. 2:25 Song & Dance from North Sumatra (not sure of the names though) 3:19 Cublak Cublak Suweng Song from Central Java. Now, this is a song that brings a lot of nostalgia to many Indonesians :D, it's a song that kids sing while playing a certain traditional game just like in the video :D 4:01 Ampar Ampar Pisang Song from South Borneo. This is also a very popular kids game song :) . I'm not familiar with the dance though 4:16 Rasa Sayange Song from Maluku. Again, I'm not familiar with the dance 5:07 Saman Dance from Aceh. (Or probably more correctly called Ratoh Jaroe Dance (?) for the female version of this dance with music). And yes this one is famous for it's cool coordination/sync :D You should see the full performance of this dance with it's original music. It's amazing, you'll be able to hear their claps and unique cheers & singing too. 5:32 That's called Bujang Ganong, a character from The Reog Ponorogo Dance from East Java 5:57 The famous Gamelan Instrument from West/Central/East Java and Bali (each region has it's own Gamelan characteristic which I don't really know so I'm not quite sure which region this Gamelan is from, but from the performers' clothes and the dance, it seems to be from East Java). I'm guessing the Dance is Reog Ponorogo (?) from East Java, it seems a bit different than what I've seen before, so I might be wrong. 7:42 The flute instrument is called Saruliang from West Sumatra. I really love the sound of this instrument, btw. The traditional dance is also from that region (not sure of the name) 7:55 Yamko Rambe Yamko Song from Papua :D . A patriotic song! 10:32 Kecak dance from Bali :D If you go to Bali, you cannot miss this one, Fil! You have to make sure to watch a live performance, outdoors at night :D 12:31 Bubuy bulan Song from West Java 12:58 He gave a small speech and led a prayer. "For Indonesia, hopefully, this piece could represent all of our love for Indonesia. Let's pray" Then you could see them bow their heads in prayer 13:13 They shouted "Indonesia Merdeka!" which roughly translate as Indonesian Independence! There you go, Fil. I hope you and your family could visit us in the near future. Stay safe for now :)

If I may add, minor correction and a rather long additional info (to the best of my knowledge): 2.25 Song: a snippet of Sik Sik Sibatumanikam, a folk song from Batak, the major native ethnic group of North Sumatra province. Sung in Batak language (not sure which one), this mood-lifting upbeat song is commonly sung in a formal or informal social scene. The outfit and dance movement, a modernized version of the traditional one, paid tribute to Batak Karo dance and traditional attire through the distinctive stationary knee-bending, turn, and hand movement of the dancers, as well as the dominant black, red and white colour of the outfit. 3.19 Cublak Cublak Suweng is actually from East Java. Despite its function as a child's play accompaniment, the song carries deeper philosophical message. Created in mid-fifteenth century AD by Sunan Giri, one of the Wali Sanga (the nine Saints or nine Sufis) spearheaded the spreading of Islamic teaching in Java island in the early fifteenth to late sixteenth century AD, the lyrics taught the following philosophical notion: one should refrain from only pursuing worldly material; and only with purity in mind one will stay in path to attain true happiness in life. 4.01 Ampar Ampar Pisang. The lyrics of this folk children song tells a story of the lengthy process of making Rimpi, a traditional Banjarese delicacy made from banana. As in most folk songs, it also carries moral teaching for children on the virtue of patience, metaphorically represented through the lengthy process of and the required attention in making the delicacy outlined in the lyrics. The dance and outfit, again a modernized version, with its distinct movement (at 0.58 to 1.00 in the original video), the feathers, and black and yellow colour paid tribute to Dayak traditional dance and attire. A genetical study reported that Banjarese is originated from a mixture of Proto-Malay ethnic group immigrants and Dayak Maanyan, the native inhabitant of Borneo island. 4.16 The folk song is intended to nurture social togetherness and a sense of care to the community. Sung in Indonesian-Ambonese language, the song consists of two parts. One is the repeated quatrain (four liners) with AABA rhyming schemes: Rasa sayange / Rasa sayang-sayange / Eh lihat dari jauh / Rasa sayang-sayange. The second part is in the form of Pantun - a Malay poetic form, in a quatrain format and an ABAB rhyming schemes. The lyrics of the second part is commonly changed to suit the context and the intended message of where the song is performed. The dominant white and red colour of the outfit paid tribute to Baju Cele, a Maluku traditional dance attire worn in Tari Lenso and Tari Katreji. The movement paid tribute to either Tari Lenso or Tari Katreji, which I am guessing is the first. The later, Tari Katreji, is an assimilation of Portuguese and Dutch cultural influence into the local Maluku culture. It is shown in its upon command movement change and the floor pattern. The beat of the music and floor pattern movement carries a similar flair to Spanish-influenced Filipino traditional dances. 5.07 You are correct, it was Tari Ratoh Jaroe instead Tari Saman. Although both are Aceh traditional folk dance, they are different in terms of its origin, language used, symbolism, rhythm accompaniment, and the dancers, in addition to the costume. Tari Saman is a much older dance from Gayo ethnic group, which is also the seminal work inspiring the creation of Tari Ratoh Jaroe (from Aceh ethnic group). Created in a much later period, Ratoh Jaroe is an assimilation of various preceding Aceh traditional dances. 5.32 and 5.37 you are correct it is Bujang Ganong, one of the two opening acts in the larger performance of Reog Ponorogo. Bujang Ganong, the name of the character, lends itself into the name of the performance. The gamelan is Javanese. Gamelan can be grouped into Javanese (Gamelan), Sundanese (Degung) and Balinese (Gambelan). As far as I know, mostly consists of the same base instrument and functional sections, the notable difference between the three are in the scale type, the size and the dominant instrument(s) creating a distinct nuance and dynamic of the resulting sound. Degung dominant instruments are Rebab and Suling creating a languid nuance and rhythmic of the resulting sound. There is not a dominant instrument in Javanese gamelan, of which it is derived from Javanese philosophy of attaining harmony and balance in all aspects of life. Balinese gamelan has a higher register of sound created and a highly dynamic and upbeat tempo, derived from the smaller size of the instrument and the dominant instrument (Ceng-Ceng, if I am not mistaken). 7.42 The piece performed is, I think, is the third act (loosely used term) of Tari Pasambahan, a Minangkabau traditional dance performed as an act of welcoming and respect to the guests. The procession to honour and welcoming the guest is depicted through the offering of Sirih Pinang (betel leaf and betel nut) and the distinct accompaniment melody of Bansi, a Minangkabau traditional bamboo-based woodwind instrument. And not Saluang which is also a Minangkabau traditional woodwind instruments. Sirih Pinang offering, or "Bersirih" in Indonesian, as a tradition to welcoming and honouring guests is commonly found and observed among Malay and Malay influenced ethnic groups in Indonesia, as well as a tradition that is commonly observed in South, Southeast, and East Asia (through the expansion and migration of early Austronesians).
