Honestly am I the only one noticed is almost exactly the same as 12 years ago yet somehow people swear up and down that she can't sing. The only difference is that she's lost some of the ease with the notes after D5 and has lost some agility but other than that it's almost the same to me and trust I love her to death! ❤️

2005 mariah wanted it more she fought through with that song and belted the heck out if it. her run attempts and growls were way superior and the whistle at the end was on point. i think that 2005 performance of VOL was the best ive heard so far even compared to earlier performances. 2017 version is ok but i wonder if she would get those vocal abilities back

She still has the ability, but she's 47 now so it takes a little more energy. She still hits that high note live when she feels like it. Plus, 2005 was her biggest comeback to date. People were saying she can't sing and should retire, and she hit 'em with Emancipation. 2017 got off to a rough start, last album didn't do well, so she's playing it safe.
