She opened up so it was a real level playing field .. not just , "how does this relate to you being black " .. she literally .. without words said said so much with so little and , it invoked emotional response . I hate the fact that , I know what they are speaking of and I'm white .. either way nit hate in my heart I think sometimes people are so used to be treated one way they don't expect anything different .. I will admit sometimes I find it harder to interact with minorities .. because idk I can't put a finger on it it's like there's some fire wall makes it socially awkward .. but when I do and they do it is great . I hate this and I am trying to drop these subconscious shit ... I cannot imagine being on the other side... hate on me if you want .. but if you deny this is a thing that exists you're a lier

@elisakrivas

I understand both sides. It may sound crazy, but I just believe that when an original creator, artist, or actor says that something makes them uncomfortable, we should respect it. Her feelings matter. That said, she could've handled this better and messaged the fan artist in private and in a polite manner, letting them know how it made her feel. What she did was overreacting and caused utter chaos. Now we have a whole lot of idiots making this into racism and political issues, when in reality, she was hurt, she expressed that hurt wrongly and in an attacking manner, and now everyone knows her dramatic business. I'm on her side in the sense that her feelings were valid and she had a right to address them and earn respect from it, but I also think her poor reaction caused unnecessary drama. Regardless, it doesn't change my mind about wanting to see Wicked and from what I've seen, I like Cynthia and there's no crime in being a diva actress. I like Ariana more, ngl, but I still like Cynthia and I'm happy that she played Elphaba.
@jamiegdubois
@jamiegdubois 8 күн бұрын
To be completely honest, I kind of get it too. I remember seeing a comment online _months_ before that edited poster came out where people were saying they hoped they’d release a poster more similar to the original Broadway playbill and someone responded something along the lines of, “Publicity-wise, it would be a bad idea for them to release an official poster where half the actresses’ faces are covered”. I also noticed that on the fan-made poster, Cynthia’s face is covered up much more than Ariana’s and, at the time, I feel like they were really using Ariana/Glinda for a lot of the marketing (presumably because she’s a slightly bigger name than Cynthia) so that might have only added fuel to the fire.
@that1sha405
@that1sha405 7 күн бұрын
The moment she started crying I said “ah there it is” this reaction def speaks to why she had such a visceral reaction to that fan poster. It seemed so out of character to what I’ve seen over the years. Was it an overreaction, maybe but she is human and I have not lived her experiences.

Ari doesn't know it, but there is another layer of representation in including both her last names. So many kids out there have two last names that get routinely shortened in US culture. I know it's not as powerful as other forms of representation within this film, but even small things can be important.

The interviewer Nischelle Turner is always so welcoming and intuned with the people she interviews . I've liked her since the simon cowell american idol days when she interviewed the new contestants . She is great. Glad to see her success. Excited to watch this after seeing the play in my teen years

i initially was going to go watch this movie because i of course knew of Ariana. but my goodness, i don’t know what rock i’ve been sleeping under because Cynthia is absolutely unreal. like now, Cynthia is the reason why i’m even more excited - of course seeing their friendship is another selling point; Ariana is undoubtedly talented too - but i can’t get over Cynthia’s disposition. she’s just superb & heavenly. that especially shows in her voice!

I have never loved an interview so much. Less than 12 mins. I have laughed and cried and just loved being an alt black woman. I love Ariana because she understands. I love this interviewer because this is a real feeling. I relate to the feeling of being outside the group of people you yearn to accept you and this is just everything. I get it!!❤❤❤❤❤❤

Massive praise for Nischelle for not just looking fabulous in the pink and green for the movie but asking very emotional questions. I got teary eyed. These roles mean so much to these two Cynthia and Ariana. You can just see how much they love the show and are huge fans of the musical. Cant wait to see this in the next two weeks. Lovely that Cynthia and Ariana are so close and have such a beautiful friendship that will last.

Ariana talking about her last name for 2 minutes but not allowing Cynthia to answer a question about race without interrupting. The promos for this movie are so so absurd; why is she better at playing glinda in real life than in the movie.
