The industry is vast, I’m glad you made this video to point out specific roles or careers that make up the fashion industry. It’s an industry where you have to put yourself out there to make the right connections. Great video as usual Chalé.

There are many different roles in the industry for sure

So hard making connections to get into fashion industry if you're shy, guess I just gotta work on it.

Deion - Vancouver Fashion facts especially in vancouver im assuming is where you’re located cause im here as well....theres just not an abundance of fashion networking opportunities iono
@FashionRoadman5 жыл бұрын
It’s kinda sad because if you’re not in a quote on quote fashion city networking can be difficult. In your case your only option is to travel to other parts of Canada where there is more of a fashion scene (e.g Toronto or Montreal)
@MFLOVEify5 жыл бұрын
The Fashion Archive yea our “fashion week” for example is quite sad rly.....went and did not meet one person who had genuine interest in fashion related work only rich ppl looking to flaunt their wealth n do it for ig fame. Im already applying to study abroad to working in styling, just narrowing it down to a few cities maybe London which would be a dream no cap. Huge props to you man and many others for creating videos like these that inspire the youth and showcase theres various career paths in fashion :-)

@@MFLOVEify Yea, I guess im lucky since I have connections with people at Roden and livestock but that can only take you so far.

I would love to hear how you made the connections with these people. It's hard to find industry people to network with, without knowing people in advance to get you into the position.

I know I am 5 months late on commenting on this video but man, this is very informative particularly when you talked about your work as a photographer/videographer on fashion editorial. I am also a photographer so thank you for that, I'll always keep that in my mind!☺️

Yes, I am excited for you to network with a lot of talent in CSM and graduates whilst studying your fashion journalism. You're going for something similar to what I would do if I ever went into journalism either in the music or fashion scene. That's the whole premise of why the channel was named "Pree The Drop", because for me industries are always developing and it's so fun discovering new creatives and looking at their rise and documenting their story and motivations. Adds a certain element of being able to compare how an individual has changed over the years etc; I definitely think you have the mentality to make it in the industry, even if it's just from experience of talking and meeting you - plus you're picking a really solid niche to document. Will be fun to see the progression over the years.

What id like to know is what happens to clothes or magazine's that dont sell in stores. Are they just archived ?
@FashionRoadman4 жыл бұрын
Magazines archived and sold for crazy prices to fashion institutions 10+ years after. Clothing that doesn’t sell in terms of luxury fashion brands is legit destroyed or sold to places like tk maxx / tj Maxx (which most luxury brands won’t do as it dilutes their brand). Luckily due to sustainability a lot of brands have been criticised for this and they’re changing.

BLACK journalism is needed, period. Fashion is one of the biggest idea, content thieves and appropriation of Black culture, I hope you expose the industry on how racist it is and who we should be divesting and directing our monies to.
@FashionRoadman5 жыл бұрын
Don’t worry I’m working on it haha. Fashion has an awful history with these things and I feel like it is my duty to highlight avant garde brands like Hood By Air who were coined as “streetwear” but then big fashion houses were copying everything they did

I think much of what you mentioned is really important. Having a plan! Even if it seems aimless to others, or like you're "taking too long". I've done quite a bit of this as well. RN, I'm taking Graphic design and AUTO CAD courses. End goal? Fashion line or collection (still deciding). I wish my internships & experiences could be similar to yours (like known fashion companies, specific positions in fashion). Mine has been more mentors that were in the industry (now entrepreneur), or a mom/pop retail store, but you wouldn't know it unless they told you. Despite this, the path you're supposed to take is your path. Can't wait to see more and check out your media!

Hey, since I havent watched all your videos yet, have you ever touched on the fur industry? I studied fur at my school for a year, and teachers would always mention the whole debate of real fur is sustainable vs fake fur is environmentally harmful. The decline of the industry. And also animal activists, it's hard if I want to use fur in my designs because I have zero energy to argue with others on the internet lol. If you ever make a video about the fur industry that would be fun to watch.
