Nobody wanted to share a bed. Literally every one that walked in and worked out it's sharing switched and picked a single bed, including Specs at first. Specs then realised nobody was gonna pick themselves to share a bed and so he chose himself to be one half to share and try to lighten the mood of sharing by bantering the last few entering into sharing with him.

If he knows people weren't keen on sharing a bed what makes him think him pushing to be one half of that bed would make anyone else any more comfortable??
