Consume at least 1g of protein for every 1 kilo (not pound) you weigh. If 1g per kilo (not pound) isn't enough, increase it by 0.1g increments every week. You need to be in a caloric surplus (gain weight) to build muscle. You need carbs to fuel your workouts. You need healthy fats to keep your brain and nervous system healthy, which contributes to strength. You can get jacked on any diet as long as you get enough protein, calories, and exercise. But at the end of the end of the day, we only really need to get strong enough to be able to lift women when we have sex.

Respect to the man. But like all these lot he waffled too much and spent more time giving word salad than specifics to the problem. So No bullshit guide here. FOR SKINNY GUYS SPECIFICALLY! 1. Find out what your maintenance calories are (google calorie calculator) 2. Now that you know your maintenance Make sure that youre eating 250-500 calories MORE than your maintenance calories. Of these calories make sure youre eating at least 1g of protien per lb of bodyweight. (1g of protien is equivalent to 4 calories. So just take your weight in lbs and multiply it by 4. And thats how much calories you need from protein everyday) The rest of your calories will be made up of carbs and fats. Divide your total daily calories by 4 also because this is how many meals you will be eating a day, eating roughly every 3-4 hours. 3. For your first 1-2 years. Focus mainly on *COMPOUND EXCERCISES* Bench press Deadlift Squatt Overhead press Dips Barbel rows Pullups These will be your bread and butter. You can do isolation excercises too after your compounds are done. But do not skip your compounds. These are what will really make you grow. Youre going to train each muscle group two times a week. Upper body on monday. Lower body on tuesday. Rest on Wednesday. Then upper body again on thursday and lower body again on friday. 4sets of 8-12 reps for each excercise. (Except for deadlifts which you will work 4sets 5-8 reps. And only once a week. You will not need to do heavy deadlifts twice a week) Every week youre going to increase either the reps or the actual weight on the bar. This is called progressive overload. The point is for you next workout to always be harder than your last. You have to give your body a reason to want to put on the muscle youre looking for. This is how you grow. 4. Drink at least two litres of water a day and aim to get at least 8 hours of solid sleep a night. Rest is extremely important. 5. Have *realistic expectations.* Dont be like this guy saying he wasnt seeing the results he wanted after a measly two months. If youre that skinny to begin with then that means you have an ectomorph bodytype. That means unlike the mesomorph bodytypes who are very muscular naturally, and the endomorph bodytypes who are naturally heavyset, your bodytype cannot put on weight or muscle that quickly at all. Because your metabolism is naturally extremely fast. So you will never in a million years see results that quickly. Your game is the long game. You can expect minor changes in about 4-6 months. But Dont expect to see super drastic changes in terms of real size for at least close to a year. Yes! I said a year. Unlike these fake tick tok roid transformations. At the 3 year mark you will barely even recognise yourself. By this time you will actually look like you lift. As an ectomorph, doing this naturally, whether you like it or not, Patience is the name of the game for you. Theres no shortcutting around it. Just keep showing up and putting the work in. I promise the results will come. How do i know? Because i’m a true ectomorph who was on the absolute worst side of the bodytype spectrum. I’m talking you used to be able to see my sternum and my ribs type skinny. I used to weigh 105lbs. Now i’m just shy of 160lbs. And its all because of everything i learned about training and nutrition. Free game which ive dropped to you in all the points above. Good luck guys Edit: i take back the respect. This man is foolish for saying ‘its not about the calories. Calories is a marketing term.’ Please do not listen to this man if you want success. He’s clearly gatekeeping information.

As an ectomorph who weighs 65kg and is 5’11 atm whos just about to start this gym life at the age of 31, i lve known that you gain most from compound lifts but looking at some of the exercise you mentioned i dont think i can lift the bar alone which is 20kg. What you reckon? Am i just doubting myself for no reason and do you work your core btw?
@phlsphrion

@@A-F93 if u cant do the 20kg bar, then use dumbbells and work up. if ur just starting you will be able to get to the 20kg bar pretty soon. Always make sure when u progress tho that ur form is solid, otherwise u risk injury. Also with these exercises learn how to brace ur core. watch Brian Alsruhe on core bracing. injury prevention and core bracing are crucial for us ectomorphs as we need to ensure out skeletal structure is stable when putting it under load. good luck on ur journey

I'm a physiotherapist and he is partly right when he says the energy you use when you run comes from the food you ate couple days ago. The energy system used for running burns fats, and before your body stores food as fat, it's a long process. But at the same time, before your body has access to the fat to burn, you need to feed yourself good amounts of calories, only then your body will see it safe to release the energy from fat because it sees there is incoming energy from food, so it's safe to burn stores. It's a streamline process. This especially true for skinny people... Fat people can get away with burning fat stores even when fasted but for skinny people, there is a baseline of fat storage that the body needs to preserve for the functioning of the organs and brain included... So if a skinny person exercises without eat prior, his body will downregulate the fat burning process and hence you feel weak during your workout.
