You can make a part 2 of this video and cover the process of managing the different aspect ratios in projection. For example: "mard ko dard nahi hota" is released in 1.85:1 aspect ratio but most of our theatre have CinemaScope screen, that is 2.35:1. So what do they do to fit 1.85:1 movie in 2.35:1 screen. You can also start your video from film coming out of editor's room to the projection room in theatre. - lots of love to Anupama, Sneha and Film Companion team.

Most theaters do nothing except using the Flat lens setting they set for the screen. Most ads are in flat format, so on a cinemascope screen there are black bars on the sides. For the movie you just build the show without the scope lens macro.

2k and 4k differs mainly in its resolution. 2k has a 2048×1080 and 4k has 4096×2048 resolution. As per the pixel rate increases.. clarity and the depth of the visual increase. Qube..Ufo..pxd are digital cinema technology providing companies. They use many brand of projectors and servers to do it. Dolby atmos and auro 11 are different sound providing technologies . It provides sound processors.. speakers and allows to tune and set sound system as per the theatre auditorium requirements .

I was disappointed this time. 😕 I was expecting some more details like what is the approximate size of a movie file, if the projectors also use some kind of encryption or not (to prevent video bitstream capturing), can the movie be rewinded or paused while playback, in what resolution do they also recieve the movies in 4K (Like Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Baahubali were made in 4K but does everyone receives the 4K format?). I was very excited before watching thie video but it was not detailed at all (unlike rest of your videos).

The aprox file size is around 8 to 12 GB. Yes you can rewind, play, pause anytime (they mentioned that in the video) very few movies go beyond 1080p resolution as for 4K you need a totally different projector. Some theaters can also do 10K but they are rarely used

How the distributor encrypts the movie and protects it from leaking and make sure it reaches to the theatres safely and on time. 1. How many days before they get a DCP of a movie? 2. What happens with a DCP when a film goes off from a theatre? 3. Do they receive another DCP if there happens to be a cut or modification in a movie.. ? 4. Who decides the number of shows of movies to be shown? 5. How do films get leaked before their release?

1. We get our packages 1-4 days before we show the movie 2. We usually get an email from the distributor to please send the harddrive back. 3. dont know, never had that happen 4. the distributor most of the time. They usually are assholes and want their new movie to be played 1-3 times a day in the biggest auditorium. Warner wants us to play Tenet on the biggest screen and we need to reserve a second one because some seats need to be left empty because of Covid-19 restrictions. 5. they usually don't. Decrypting the DCP beforehand is really hard to do.

I have experience in watching a full movie in my very known theatre . The theatre room is very small but has 6 ACs to cool the Sound processor and The bulky Sony 5K cinema projector. Actually I can't hear the sound from the consumer zone. So I used a separate headphones into the dolby atmos sound processor. And that's the cool experience I got in watching a movie.

Good information but some important things not told Like the movies in India runs in three formats. The first and old dcp format is MPEG 2 which can said HD as it has 1080p resolution Second one is j2k format and it's 2k resolution 3rd one is 4k in some cinema ...Both 2k and 4k is jpeg2000 file format. The projector are on rent upto 15k /month for 2k And 10k/month for HD which is provided by Qube cinema and movies are distributed by Real Image only. There is no particular time for KDM...It's mainly depend upon how much big the movie is ...Big movies KDM are given in morning only to stop piracy...There are lots of thing inside a cinema

This clip is fine for Digital Films in reality the projection room word derived when films were projected in 35mm formats and for cinema projectionist it was a constant work. Now you just shove the hard drive get the code and off you go

prarthana madhavan i am glad you want to know more about screenplay writing. There is nothing more in screenplay writing. It's more or less same like writing a novel. But yes it's more technical to write shooting draft. We have to care about sluglines, transitions, parentheticals, action, dialogue formatting etc. But nowadays softwares like final draft, celtex has made this job more easy for the writers. 😊

I thing they using digital cinema projector not a flim projector if they using flim projector so they can't allow out side shoes in projection room because dust particles stick on flim and flim is so sticky because projection use some Oli in flim but they using digital cinema projector and server so why not allowed shoes in projection room I think this projection room is Pvr Juhu movie ratio is 2k 2048*858 4k 4096*2160 one movie DCP size approximately is 300 to 500 GB encryption is AES 128 bit movie play per second frame rate is 24 , 30, 48 ,(60 is HFR high frame rate ) server and projector also have encryption with technically we call marriage server no registered with flim lab they send kdm with server no sound system is currently 7.1 or Dolby Atmos Dolby Atmos have extra effect audio file so projectionist they sync audio with movie every week if sync not proper than movie play automatically in dolby 7.1 and many cinema currently have centralised NOC network operations centre from NOC they handling pan India content transfer and kdm schedule or movie play list DCP digital cinema package KDM key delivery massage DCDM digital cinema distribution master PKG package file 3D active and passive but many cinema currently use passive 3D also using PLC program logic controller for automation no projectionist required need any information regarding movie conversation and technical please mail me [e-mail]

this shown projector is a lamp based 2k projector from christie......a 4k laser christie or barco projector is much better but more costly another advantage of a laser projector is you don't have to change laser for some years like a lamp based projector.........what do you have to say on that ??

Informative video in respect about projection room and expertise required by the team to show a movie via digital DLP projection. There is no reel , its just files containing data / info. It is quite simple if compared with 35 or 70 mm film projectors that used to show movies for 70 years or so. There was a special feel of projection booth with two 35 MM celluloid film projectors in old days, the art of threading, change over, splicing, film gate on projectors, the mechanical sound of spools ___ that magic is all gone.

@mark haas Of course it does. Not so much as a projection medium anymore, but there are quite a few directors, such as Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino, who only shoot film. IMAX is also a film format only, as no digital format can yet match its resolution of approximately 16K.

Well digitized Cinema projector ..can someone will tell here ..is their any USB drive option to put & play/screen movie ( 2Gb HD), as we all do in laptop or with other projectors.

No. You can't just put a USB and play any type of movie file. If you want to play the movie from the server you need it in the DCP format, or you can plug in your laptop with an HDMI cable and turn on this connection on the projector. But that only works on newer projectors. The first available around 10 years ago (NEC series 1 projectors for example) had a DVI connection.

The video was indeed informative. But it was sad to see the anchor interrupt the manager (when he was expressing his token of thanks for his team members) and wind up the video. It felt like "thanks for giving me a chance and helping me out but now that my job is done, I don't give a damn to what else you have got to say" ! Half a dozen seconds of patience would have meant lot to the team and to viewers (personal opinion).

Because LED screen are a very new thing, and very expensive. Samsung only offers 2 sizes which cost about 1.2Million Dollars. With normal projection you can buy equipment for 2-3 auditoriums. As a businessman, would you only buy things for one room or for three?

Sad to see the way Indian films and projection has forgotten about celluloid. The films are the efficient and significant part of indian cinema. 99% of the films that existed in the early era of filmmaking in India has eradicated. The real reason celluloid medium is important is that it is long-lasting than digital preservation and has a beautiful movie watching experience . I really want to revolutize this part of indian cinema and I really hope to see a 'film' that is shot on celluloid. Atleast use the term 'motion picture' or Cinema projectors or some people like us who believe in celluloid revival gets confused

The glas is for the noise from the projector. It's about 70-75dB in a projection room. If you put your head close to the window you can hear the fan noise even through it. Dust is not so much of a problem. The fan intakes are all equipped with filters which are replaced every time the xenon-lamp is changed (or every 1000h if it's a Laser Projector which has no lamp to change). And there is not so much dust to begin with, since the air is filtered before it gets into the cinema rooms.
