Texas O Line and run game have grown a LOT since the first match up. Also been a lot less penalties in recent weeks which killed us in first game. 10:06 yeh imo Texas needs to stop this outside WR screen game at the beginning of the game. They need to replace it with running game or play action pass. Even fake WR screen to down field pass. Even Aggies covered it well and Sark abandoned it against them. Even a double reverse would have more success and I don’t even see that having success at first. You’re gonna have set tendencies first before these plays work

16:25 Quinn has thrown plenty of those layered or touch intermediate window throws since this game. I think he was looking at #2 Golden on the play when he should've looked for the hitch. Part of it is pre-snap they didn't show cover 3. I think Quinn needs to watch their tape on how they plan to disguise these looks. If he can diagnose them it will be a different match-up. I've also noticed Georgia was extremely aggressive on jumping many routes. I bet Sark dials up some pump fakes and other types of plays to take advantage of the jumpy LBs, safeties and corners. One thing Texas' QB should do is motion pre-snap to see if Georgia is in man. I know this can be faked but at least QE would have some idea. He didn't use motion enough in the last game. As for the run, Georgia will see pony package (21 personnel) more often. You may also see Arch come in and create a QB run situation. It's also likely we don't get down 23 making field goals and running more impossible. We turned down 9 easy points in field goals. This game was more a touchdown difference. Regardless I agree Quinn has to throw those outs and curls against cover 3. The right tackle and left guard can't get destroyed like they were on numerous run and passing plays and the Texas OL has to protect QE long enough for those deep crossers to run to grass or it will be a long night for Texas again.

The elephant in the room is WHY does Kirby dial up a scared turtle defense anytime a QB tucks and runs on us? We will have 4 to five DBs 10+ yards off the ball and our LBs chasing motion to no mans land or out of gap contain. One simple seal block and the opposing QB is running free for 7-15 yards a wack. Bad part is we can have 11 DBs down field covering one receiver and the receiver STILL CATCHES THE DANG BALL!!!!!!!! Get a dang pick! I really don’t understand Kirby’s reasoning for going reactive and prevent zone with 11 4-5 star athletes out there. Kirby needs to tell them a simple concept before dialing up a lights out game Defense scheme, “do your dang job!” is all he should have to say.
@aguyUsingTheWeb22 сағат бұрын
He explained in the Georgia Tech video and in the Bama video. If playing a running QB either you go man with 1 or 2 spies or you go zone to keep eyes on the QB. If you keep at least 1 man free over top, which UGA typically does, that means either a man free single safety OR cover 3 zone or zone match. That means you BETTER get to the QB and/or our spies had better get the QB to the ground. That could and did work on GT at times but we also blitzed from depth to use faster guys, I guess while still keeping the "contain" lanes. Problem is #1, you gotta change it up. #2 there are still weaknesses in both. Particularly in the passing game. 1 high some is either gonna be a robber or a three deep or cover 6 which is basically cover 3. Cover 3 leaves flats and seams wide open, which Brooks explains in the GT video and shows how Tech kept hitting those routes. In man, if we don't get the QB on the ground, receivers will eventually get open. And they can also manipulate based on personnel. Like Texas tried to with blue on rails/wheels but CJ Allen got there anyway last time. I'm sure UT will have a different way of attacking that same concept this time. If they play Ewers, I'm more confident that we can dial up great defensive sets. If Manning gets significant snaps, I think we may be in trouble. Brooks would have to confirm. Cos once we go +1 by having the QB run, it takes away our ability to dictate terms. Now we match not based on attacking formations but based on limiting damage. We go from attacking to bend don't break, essentially.

We know what you look like, we don't need to see you, we need to hear you and when the screen jumps from you in it to all football field, you have to re-orinent your eyes. Hope I was clear but you are a must watch every week.
