fun fact: in the american version, the crown has an attack power of 140, despite never attacking. In the Japanese and European version, the crown has an attack power of zero.

@@ccemox4681 Despite the crown not attacking, yes, it's harder on the american version, the european and Japan ones I believe make both stages for elder princess shroob have 1500 hp, being 3000 together. While the American version makes both stages have 3000 hp, being 6000 hp. Or I think it was 3500 each, but it's one of those two.

@@dilan2988 almost! In the USA version, it's 3000+3500 HP, while in the EU/JP version it's 1800+2000 HP. Though, to balance the difficulty, they decided to increase the ATK power by 90 in both phases (220/230 in EU and JP, 130/140 in USA)

lol. Also fun fact: The music that starts playing when princess shroob hits the ground is only in the Eu and Japenese version. In the USA version, the music starts playing only after Princess shroob lifts the Platform they are all standing on into the sky.

This fight really tested your endurance. I fought every enemy I saw in this game plus some extra ones, and I still took forever to beat Elder Princess Shroob. Took me around 30 minutes!

Imo her first faze is WAY harder, her second phase attacks are easier to dodge than her first. Mostly every attack on her first would make me die but on her second a few was dodgable. I used like 15 one- ups

This boss fight was an absolute marathon. She has more stuff to take out compared to cacklettas soul. Her attacks are harder to dodge and are far more dangerous than cackletta

Fun fact Elder Shrob Princess appears again but frozen in Bowser's secret vault in the DS version of Bowser Inside Story but was removed in the 3DS version indicating that she will return in a new story of Partners in Time 2 but was possibly canceled by the bankruptcy of alphadream

I used to have trouble with princess shroob and elder princess shroob back in 2011 because I didn't up defense enough and the stupid dark bowser fight i had to inhale the dar star core but failed miserably because i didn't press x fast enough 10 years ago when I got my first 3ds

You probably spammed mix flowers. Without mix flowers she is fairly challenging, especially when she has around 1/3rd of her health left because she attacks way more often.

I remember people hyping up this boss fight, saying it was one of the hardest in the series. Well, after suffering for over 3 HOURS with Cackletta's Soul in Superstar Saga, I made sure I was prepared this time. Was level 35, and had plenty of mix flowers. Needless to say, I managed to beat her within 30 minutes. Very anticlimactic.

My first time playing I couldn't beat her. To be fair, I was like 10 and very dumb, but yeah if you spam Mix Flowers you can easily cheese her. Cacklettas Soul can't be as easily cheesed

Extremely hot take: I consider Elder Princess Shroob to be one of the WORST boss battles ever. Here's why. First and foremost, she has WAY too much HP, so much so that the European and Japanese versions of the game had to reduce her total HP from 6500 to 3800. Second, without the Mix Flower, Copy Flower, or Trampoline, her second phase becomes nearly impossible to beat. Third, if you're playing as a Fragile Speedster (high speed but low attack and defense) or a Glass Cannon (high attack but low defense) instead of playing as a Mighty Glacier (high attack and defense but low speed) or a Stone Wall (high defense but low attack), her attacks will deal so much damage that you'll end up losing a Bro altogether, making the fight more insufferable than it already is because you can't perform any of your best attacks. It honestly sounds like the Thing system in Color Splash, where if you lose even one Bro, unless you can revive said Bro, you're going to lose no matter what. Tell me, does that sound like fun or good game design? If it does, congrats, you enjoy pain. Fourth, all of these problems are exacerbated if you are underleveled and have been struggling through Partners in Time.

1. Then just play the European version of the game. 2. That's true, but the real question is... *_Why wouldn't you use them?_* 3. The babies are often faster than the adults, so if one bro dies, just revive them with the baby and use the other bro's turn to attack. In addition, you can use peppers to increase power/defense/speed. 4. Soul Bubbles & Shroob Rexes + Mix Flowers = easy XP grind.

@@gvssrsg4162 For my first point, the European and Japanese versions of the game are somehow less unfair because enemies don't tend to have as much health, so I should try doing that. The large amount of HP, specifically in the American version of the game, is the reason why bosses in this game take FOREVER to beat. Regarding my second point, I do have the Trampoline, Copy Flower, and Mix Flower. I was just making a hypothetical situation in which I don't have either of the aforementioned Bros Items. Even then, not counting bosses, I only really use them against large groups of enemies. For my third point, I have to stock up on 1-Ups so I can revive fallen party members to full HP. Another reason I stock up on 1-Ups and Peppers is because I feel like I take WAY too much damage from a single attack. Seriously man, the fights in this game are BRUTAL, especially the boss fights. For a game that makes me experiment through trial and error to learn the attack patterns of enemies, it really feels like there's very little room for error. And that's just half of it. Like I said before, the other half consists of bosses which take FOREVER to beat either because they have so much health or I don't deal enough damage. And for my fourth and final point, that is a good grinding method, but I wouldn't have to grind if enemies gave me more experience. That's the problem with fighting enemies in this game: you don't get enough experience for beating enemies. I've been going throughout almost the game feeling like I don't do enough damage, can't take a hit, or don't have enough HP to survive for a while. That's how I know I'm underleveled. In short, my entire mindset when playing this game has been, "It's not my fault I was underleveled, it's not my fault I only used Bros Items for certain parts of the game, and it's not my fault it felt awful controlling all four characters in combat. That's obviously the game's fault." If I were to make an Everything Wrong With video on Partners in Time, I would give Elder Princess Shroob one million sins for all the wrong reasons, as you've just stated. Not only would all of my reasoning be flawed, but by doing this at all, I would break one of the fundamental rules I would set for my series.

@@greninjamariokartpokemonfan 1. You're free to try it whenever you want. 2. I still don't know how that could happen since the game literally GIVES YOU bros. items... But if it does, for some reason, you can go back to Peach's Castle, stock up on them and then fight the Shroob Princesses. 3. I'll give you that, the bosses in this game do a lot of damage, but I kinda understand why they did this because, duh, you have 4 lives. Even if you fail you can use the babies to bring the adults back to life and now you know the patterns of the enemies/bosses. 4. I have to agree with you on this... The enemies don't give enough experience. Especially the ones in the later areas. I've completed the game like 3 times this year, fighting all the enemies I could find, and you know in what level I reached the final bosses? 31. That's the exact same level the Elder Princess Shroob has. And it's weird because I fought other bosses like, say, Petey Piranha (16) when I was like 3 or 4 levels above them.

@@banzaialex5984 Normally, it isn't, but it is in Partners in Time because the final area, Shroob Castle, is a massive difficulty spike, and you level will probably be in the low to mid 20s range. Keep in mind that Princess Shroob is level 29, and Elder Princess Shroob is level 30 in her first phase and level 31 in her second phase. To reach level 31, you need over 50,000 EXP. Like I said, you will arrive with just over 20,000 EXP if you're lucky, which nets you level 23.
