As always, very clear and dynamic explanation. One of my big disappointments changing from the Intel to the M1 Macs, is that motion blur and multi exposure plugins that were created by PixelFilmStudios (ProsShutter) do not work on the M1 chips. So I have to maintain an Intel Mac just for these motion blur effects. The motion blur that you can achieve with Motion is really poor and disappointing in comparison, and the new plugins developed by PixelFilm are also disappointing, as they apparently rely on Motion.

I found a solution for this issue, put a horizontal clip under your vertical clip

Hey Roland! I added a handheld effect to the layer that had me on it. Then I added that same handheld effect twice to the comments. That gave it that 3D look! Then I just put those comments out of focus.

I'm wondering what settings to use if I recorded a video with a 1/1000 shutter speed and I need realistic 1/50 shutter speed for 24 fps timeline. A 180º rule. What would those Apple Motion settings be??

So unfortunately, you can’t really apply Motion Blur (like in after effects) onto a video with a high shutter angle. There are plugins that do this, but they do require a ton of computing power. this is the best one I’ve seen! revisionfx.com/products/rsmb/fcp/

This doesn't work at all, at least in the current version of FCPX. Maybe it works with just that shape 3rd party plugin, but with a normal video keyframed to rotate or move, it doesn't apply any motion blur in the least.

It won’t work on videos that have zero changes. If you apply it to a video that has a speed change it will. That’s unfortunately just a limitation from Motion. Wish I had better news for you!

@@TheFinalCutBro I get it. So sad that an NLE that is so good in some things, and so affordable, lacks some really basic stuff like this. But well, better than paying Adobe $60/month :)
