This are the clearest shots I have ever got of fish! We dropped our camera in a highly pressured warm water discharge that feeds into the Potomac river.
We saw bass, bluegill, catfish, and even some tilapia down there! The fish were fairly finicky, and did not seem to interested in the worm, but we still got some amazing footage.
As a reminder we were fishing very cold winter conditions, so I am eager to see how fish react come the summer time.
This underwater camera is amazing and so versatile. I cannot wait to use it again! There is a link down below to the camera if you all wanna check it out!

Your worm was DOA and never moved a bit. Don't hook it so many times and fish with the whole worm instead of pinching it in half. If they see your worm wiggling on the bottom they'll be more likely to take it. If you feel like the bait is just to large switch to smaller worms like maybe a red wiggler.

@@ashbyscott4180 That's not always true it depends on the fish there's videos showing it on KZbin, they make this sucking/inhaling and suck the whole worm in. Yes sometimes small fish will nibble but bigger fish won't.

@@afkinthebrain3421 I have tried both ways, I have way better luck not bunching it on the hook, and also if you go to amy major fishing or outdoor place, they are going to tell you not to bunch it on the hook. The wiggling action triggers something in them kind of like the action you get tiger or another prey animal when something runs from them.

Good stuff. I'd be interested to see real time of both the bite and how it affects the rod tip. I've been fishing the mississippi for catfish and am to the point to where I feel like I can tell the difference between a cat or a gar bite. But I'm still so curious as to what's going on under there to make that rod tip look different.of course, fishing in very heavy current makes a huge difference too.

Wow! This is so cool! I can't believe these fish were so active on a high pressure clear blue sky sunny day. Usually that turns fish off and then become lethargic and bury in the weeds. But that would explain why they weren't feeding, but the warm water may have kept them active if it was cold out . I can't believe there's invasive species like tilapia as well in the Potomac River! You should try injecting the worm with air using a needle and syringe. There's videos on how to do it and the worm would float up or put a floating jig head that might have helped

Panfish and bass will usually go for a suspended bait much more readily, especially if it's 6-12 inches off the bottom. I'm sure this would be tricky with a camera attached to your fishing line...maybe run a longer leader from the camera and put some sort of float just above the bait/hook, and give it some action every now and then.

If you want to catch the bass, thread a whole nightcrawler on the line above the hook, hide the hook in its tail and inflate it. If it suspends above the bottom you'll have a much higher chance of catching bass. Also, to keep the bluegill off, I just use a larger hook and two whole nightcrawlers. Works wonders.

Don't fish at the bottom.. Let your worm dangle above the bottom of the lake.. Only time you let your bait rest on the bottom is to catch bottom feeders like catfish... You have to know how to adjust your bobber as well it keeps the bait moving even if it's dead... I'm from Lake County FL.. I was raised on the lake.. I can catch fish with bread, bologna, worms, crickets, shrimp... You name it 😂😂😂... Great video 🔥

It's all about technique, timing, and location. I fish with nothing else and bring everything in with nightcrawlers. I have no luck with jigs and lures, though im sure that's all about technique too...I have just never had anyone to teach me. But I have brought in dozens of fish in an hour with crawlers and nothing else. I use the same setup everytime. I put a small sinker a few inches above the hook (not sure the science behind it but there is a definite difference between whether or not I use it). Worm should be alive so it's moving down there. I also never rip the worm in half unless they are biting super quick. And I always use a bobber so there is no mistake of when they are starting to bite, and it maximizes the window of opportunity to know when to try to hit them. And i never keep it down there for more than a minute or two, then keep moving until i find the hot spot. I find fishing to be an active hobby...not just throw it out there and let it set. Crawlers will always be my favorite and most successful bait.

What interests me the most is just how much noise your reel is making through the line. I'd always assumed as much was happening and figured the fish could hear me if I was talking or something, and now I'm almost certain that's true. Could you kindly try this? Just pull your line really tight while it's under the water and talk to it at varying volumes. Weird request I know but I really think my fish call has some merit.

I don’t know about regular earthworms. We didn’t use them. We used what my grandfather called green worms. We’d look for the ‘bubbles’ of dirt, after a rain, along the banks of the patomac and monocacy rivers. That’s where we’d dig to find these really skinny green colored earthworms. They were much slimier than night crawlers and they smelled strong. They were hard to string on a hook, because they were so skinny, but the fish loved them.

Dude pop rod tip. Once rig settled pop again. Do this 6 to 7 times then 1/4 very slow reel turn. Once you turn reel 1/4 turn and worm settled pop rod tip again.
