When I was 8-9 years old my dad taught me how to fish a plastic worm, he made me count 12 seconds between twitches, and those twitches were 2-3 very light taps....amazing how many bass I caught using that technique throughout my life, and crazy how few were caught going any faster.
@acuailtrash73202 жыл бұрын
Fish it that slow huh… that’s crazy.. how many casts to you do a minute then? Wouldn’t it be hard to cover any water?
@ansoncraig95252 жыл бұрын
Thank you. More insight than the whole video. Actually giving a time for how long to let it sit helps way more than just saying, let it sit.
@sheastewart76082 жыл бұрын
@@acuailtrash7320 well, get your bait out into an area that you think the fish are at, work it slow there and if you feel it is out of the area of the fish, just reel in and re-cast. But if you're unsure of the structure and cover at a lake you may be better off with few casts and working slowly all the way in to get a feel for the body of water.
@thedawsonian90942 жыл бұрын
@@acuailtrash7320 you’re not really trying to cover water with plastic worms. Typically best for targeting certain areas of water (cover, drop offs, grass, etc.)

My favorite thing to say is, doesn’t matter if we catch fish, we are spending time with each other. He just bought his first rod and real, I bought him his first couple but he ponied up his own money to buy one himself. That’s commitment!

Rivers full of spots! I mean spotted bass, not fishing spots lol. But just wanted to say thank you to both of you big time. Like I said been bass fishing along time, but you guys are great at like this video at slowing down, what I got the most today, slow down when worm fishing, because we will get going to fast all time trying cover water. I fish all my plastics super slow. My catch rate is pretty high really. My slogan is “little bit, let it sit”. Another thing to think about…Watch the tip of your pole when you move it. We think we are moving the bait a little because of our hand movement. Yet, the tip of the pole is moving 3-4’(or more). Try moving the tip of your pole 1-2’ instead. This is more of a finesse approach and is a super deadly.

I have been going down a rabbit hole for bass fishing. Thanks for the information. While I have fished in the past, at 57 years young, I am a noob. I was in a shop today and there was a lady there. She seemed to know what she was talking about. I have learned that you just need to ask someone with experience for advice. I told here my situation with fishing and she said "You need to learn to rig a Texas Rig." She then proceeded to pick out everything I needed to make them. She recommended using bobber stoppers but this place didn't have any. We didn't discuss how to use it but your video explains that. Anyways, I am looking forward to trying the Texas Rig out this weekend at the lake. Thanks again.

Crystal, get someone to show you how to fish the plastic worm. I’ve used them for 45 years. I like the scented ones, or can add anise oil scent if you want. You may be fishing where there are few bass. Plastic worms are excellent bass catchers. Some days a spinner bait is best, other days, a crank bait and other days plastic worms are best. All of these are fish catchers. I have caught many bass over years. My best day was a 9 plus pound, a five pound, an 8 pound and several smaller bass and I lost a huge bass that day, fishing in South Georgia and that day I was fishing only plastic worms. I’m 72 years old and never had another day like that day.

@@martinmaddox5315 Hello Martin! Thank you for your comments. Yes, I believe you're right about getting someone to show me how to fish plastics. I've not been able to get out much this year, but I have some up with a few ideas on how to trigger a few strikes and will try them out when I can get to the pond. I have heard what you say about plastic worms. I've had many days where I'd catch 30-70 bass believe it or not on cranks and spinners or flies. Many small ones needless to say though, but many. I often go fishing alone. I don't have any friends left that like to fish. Sorry you lost that big one! I do know I'm fishing in the right spots - have seen bass pulled out of these places I fish many times. I've fished right close to some of the guys catching 'em like crazy but I've not had a single hit the same time. Not unusual though. I just haven't had much success on plastic worms. After seeing this vid, I'll give it a shot as they say here. Thanx again for your input! Best of luck to you on future trips!

Sir,I can say that your advice about slowing the action of the worm down, to just let it be still, is absolutely correct. This is something that I struggled with for a long time,a person thinks that you need to keep that action going but it's not true,it took me a long time to figure that out. It also applys to a lot of different lures and baits

This set up catches fish anywhere in anything lol. I don’t even know how fish see it sometimes. Most catches or bites are on the drop or as I slowly pull it through the weeds. I never bother with flipping it/bouncing it off the bottom or any of that. I never weight it either. The Yamamoto brand senko is the perfect weight and the bigger senkos are even better.

I live in East Texas and fish exclusively with worms mainly from the bank.. I use the Texas rig with a large hook like you say but I don't use a weight. Certain worms way more than others and that is where I get my weight in order to cast with my light tackle. This allows me to walk the worm over the weeds better and back up and over when I let it sink down between lily pads or other aquatic growth or dead limbs laying in the water. I usually use a four or six pound line on a spinning reel, and you have to use the slightly heavier bodied worm in order to get good distance on your cast. And always use fluorocarbon fishing line because it doesn't stretch as much as nylon for a better hookset, and nylon throughout the time you're fishing will slowly absorb water and not be as lively when you cast. The fluorocarbon does not absorb water which allows the line to stay lighter and helps you work the worm better and get further cast more accurately. A little pack of hooks and a Ziploc baggie full of your favorite variety of worms in your pocket and you can go anywhere without keeping up with a tackle box and all that sort. a pair of needle nose in your pocket to remove deep hooks also and I just basically how I fish.
