How to ACTUALLY add Apple CarPlay / Android Auto to an Audi.

I added this module to my 2010 Audi A5. It works really, really well. The Audi MMI interface post installation works flawlessly for all the normal Audi MMI features. HEADS UP: the installation was WAY more involved than the video for my model depicted. It took me a couple of days and a lot of improvising to get the thing installed. But I love it.

Hi, so if im in CarPlay mode and I wanna put the fan on, do I have to get out of CarPlay to turn the fan on? Cause in oem mode, the fan comes on the screen.

Ive got a 2014 audi a4 but i dont think it has a usb port in the arm rest or glove box but i could be wrong so would it still work without the usb?

I like the idea of these, and your video makes it look super easy- great. But one drawback, for me anyway, is that while in CarPlay mode, none of the original functions can be accessed. And being old school, I like to have the radio playing while running Maps or Waze in CarPlay, and having nav announcements mute the radio.

You can just use TuneIn radio whilst using Apple Maps

Where he switched the media to external Audio input, just don’t do that. You can run the media in original settings to your radio and have maps open on your CarPlay

@@efaerman make sure that you set the DIP switches on the CarPlay box itself correctly per the instructions manual or the guide printed on the box (if there is one). Two right silver buttons flashing means that the MMI control panel can't talk to the multimedia head, which means that the CarPlay box is not configured for this specific car/multimedia type.

Nice video, but sadly cannot help anyone do no such install. Think about buying a phone mount for your camera if you really want to make instructional videos.
