In this video I show how I fixed the beeping FIOS battery backup without getting stiffed for $40 by Frontier. Save your money and pick up a battery from Amazon. Link to part on Amazon: amzn.to/3Av34uk

Whether it is 40 dollars or 2 cents the point is YOU should NOT pay anything for their incompetence and it IS incompetence. (i.e. they took the easy way out and put it on the customers.)

If the batteries in your TV remote died, would you expect Verizon to replace them too?

I thought you guys were all about the free market. This is it: a race to the bottom.

You’re being ridiculous. Those batteries don’t last forever and they aren’t cheap for decent ones. There is no incompetence involved on their part. We just had our fios account reactivated and they replaced the old bad battery for free

On newer boxes you can just unplug the battery and leave it that way, they aren't needed and it doesn't beep. On older boxes they will continue to beep when the battery is not plugged in. Before replacing the battery you can try unplugging it and plugging it back in to reset it, this normally gets you a few more months before the battery is completely dead.

I tested my battery and it read 13v but the light was still on and I had the beep. I replaced anyway

I've had FIOS for 10 years and I've been able to get a tech to swap the battery twice. Basically if you ever need a tech to come out, ask him if he can replace the battery because it keeps beeping. I just got a replacement this year because I canceled Frontier and temporarily switched to Spectrum. I went back to Frontier after 2 months with new customer promo and made sure to ask the install tech to swap out the battery.

I found out, the battery is a backup only if you loose power in your entire home and still want to make phone calls. If you don't have fios voice through Verizon or Frontier, you don't need the battery back up. So remove it unless you like the beep every 30 minutes or so.

Exactly. This is what i did.

So glad I read this before going out to buy batteries. My internet already does not work when my power goes out so no need for a backup. I just unplugged it and the beeping stopped.

Why does the battery beep in the first place? I don't have this system at my house my sister does it beeps
@davidwexler74826 жыл бұрын
All these comments about replacing the battery are misleading, according to my experience. The battery doesn't need replacing. Just take off the red connector, jiggle it around and replace. It's just loose. Maybe clean the connection and reconnect. Red light and signal go away until the connector gets loose again.

Actually... that worked. Well, I ordered a backup already through Home Depot. I'm sure it'll die eventually anyway, I've had it forever. Thank you for the tip!

Has nothing to do with the connection. It is the battery failing.
@booboo6992545 жыл бұрын
@@ibmtpx24 Correct. It's a lead-acid battery and will eventually no longer old a charge.
@AlvinthechipmunkHuynh5 жыл бұрын
all you did was you tricked the system into having a new battery by disconnecting and reconnecting it. Once time has passed, it will beep again. Or you can just disconnect the battery and never reconnect it for a permanent fix.
@ibmtpx245 жыл бұрын
Or you can remove the buzzer from the board and never have to spend money for the batteru just to avoid the alarm sound.

Does anyone know what these back up batteries do? (I have one left over from a former cable provider and the current cable provider doesn't use it.)
@Manx364 жыл бұрын
Rob Getty it’s for your phone if you have the phone system through your cable company. They run your voice male if the power is out

Why does my internet still work even though I have the batter removed?
@xgcrepo6 жыл бұрын
Its for power outages more for your home phone service. So if you have an outage, you're still able to use your phone for several hours before it completely shuts off. The power cable and the box itself powers the actual unit outside that connects your service to your router. if that not plugged in, there is nothing powering your internet to push the units and its information. The Battery is just for phone services (you'll see a phone jack connected to that wall unit)

XGC REPO So if you only have Frontier internet services and don’t use Frontier home phone service (only use my cellphone) is it necessary to replace the battery?
@JustinLodes5 жыл бұрын
4lando apparently it’s not. I thought it was for the internet also as well as the tv portion. The reason they need a battery if the power goes out is because electricity cannot flow through a fiber optic line like it can through a cable tv coax or a standard old phone line to power the equipment
@atomatom64427 жыл бұрын
It's not covered by Verizon , battery replacement. Sad to nickel and dime customers.

Yeah they suck. They should be selling these things at cost instead of marked up like 200%.

Why does Verizon have this battery No other cable companies do
@booboo6992545 жыл бұрын
It's to allow for the phone to work if you have an outage. That is particularly helpful with older subscribers that may not have a mobile phone.
@TheRindyrae4 жыл бұрын
@@booboo699254 what happens if you don't have a landline, I use my cell phone, can you still take the battery out? TV and Internet don't work anyway during a outage. I use to have a landline but really had no use for it in this day and time.

I hate Frontier service!! The phone sounds bad and battery beeps! And you can't shut it up without a battery!
