What is Fios? (& Why You Should Absolutely Get It)

It's sort of a joke between me and my other friends on KZbin. "You can come to my place and upload your video if you need--I have Fios".
And honestly, there is a good reason why this is a thing. But for those that maybe have heard the term but are curious about what Fios is actually, I figured I'd break it down for you guys in a quick video.
Full disclosure: I have had Fios in my apartment for over a year and love it, but Verizon was kind enough to collaborate with me in creating this video to show you guys how it actually works.

I live in Switzerland, and recently got the equivalent to your fios; to be honest it's great when it works properly. The issue I have, is that I need to run the Ethernet through special wall plugs to get from my router tp my computer. The speeds advertised are there, but I've found that in my older appartment building when doing this it basically limits you to 10% of those. Thankfully 5GHz Wifi is blazing fast. In a special case like this it's good to keep in mind that you need the proper installations.

They just installed Google Fiber in my neighborhood, and it cam available a week after I signed up with a 2 yr. contract with WOW cable. Damit man! LOL! I had them run the fiber cables to my house anyway so that I can get fiber internet when my contract is over. Great vid as usual my friend.

I have this all installed in my garage. It's great it's but when I do a speed test in the living room it's only like 50mbs vs 200 in my garage. Do you think it's worth having a technician move the router into a more central part of our townhome or trying a wifi booster? Thanks great video.

Try moving the router first, then if it's not as good you can consider a booster, or you can look into Mesh Wi-Fi systems.

yes verizon runs on satellites which the chinese government have ownership of. fios sometimes has to run directly thru the core of the earth during storms but autoswitches back to the chinese satellite during earthquakes and volcanic eruptions

Not all of us are able to get Fios. The building where I live in the Bronx does not allow the installation of satellite dishes. I don't understand why not. It is frustrating. I am stuck with Optimum who does not deserve even a star. I wonder why Optimum is still in business. Fios is the best period.

If you get a speed faster than 200mbps. They will usually install a Ethernet Cable or Fiber directly to your House. That way it doesn't flex like the lower plans that uses Broadband

im in the dc area (northern VA). been thinking about switching to fios for a few years now, but friends and neighbors with fios have told me they have outages sometimes. i'm on cox and virtually never have outages. i run a server for my business here so uptime is obviously important. is your service pretty consistent or do you get outages?

The problem is Verizon's wifi is practically non existent. Home wifi is about the only thing you can count on. Optium gives you free wifi to their entire network which is practically everywhere. You can also use your own modem.

your modem probably has a temporary lease setting, it's easy to fix. mine did too. Google "change modem lease settings"

Verizon’s problem is both the 5G race with AT&T and T-Mobile, then Spectrum on the ISP/cable side. Plus, they lost big on their failed streaming service Go90. I want Fios!

Well we have fios in my country which is Bahrain but the downside they give you a maximum speed of 50mbps but a ping of 1ms for a price of about $160 They just dont want to give us that full speed

no, fiber optics do not support ps4 or fortnite. they only work through copper wire because the size of the tcp packets is so big

I wouldn't recommend it FiOS cost a hella more than any cable company due to the fact they charge by gb and FiOS good actually costs more than it would from a cable company make sure you ask for their plans because you'll end up buying the smallest plan by default and then they will make you pay the months bill first even when the month isn't over and then make you pay for the correct package you one plus customer service is crap they basically dump you on someone else if they get tired of talking to you
