Zerxus is a character, created and played by same guy voice-acting him in this episode, in the shorter Crit Role series, EXU: Calamity which is a MUST WATCH if you can find the time at all. It is considered by many one of the best live play games out there, DM'd by Brennan Lee Mulligan of Dimension 20. And if you do watch it... well, you certainly will see that Zerxus' version of how he sees things is not necessarily the way others might see things, in terms of who had the most hubris at the start of the Calamity. Oh, and EXU:Calamity is a prequel game and has no spoilers to any of the shows etc, it just literally is how the Calamity that comes up as history here popped off.

And for anybody who's daunted by starting to watch Critical Role since there are so many episodes per campaign, Calamity is a short run of only 4 episodes, so it's an easy way to dip your toe in.

Vex being in the tub was amazing in the original campaign. Laura Bailey caught everyone of guard by improving that as soon as Vax left. Travis Willingham, Grog’s VA and Laura’s husband, leapt out of his seat cheering, as he was probably the biggest Perc'ahlia shipper at the table.

This is going outside the campaign here so we don't know what to expect, but it should be noted that on the second round of the Black Skull game Xerxes said "For the Plate of the Dawn Martyr, the wager of your friends." Note how he never mentioned Pike's freedom. I think she is still bound to his service, he just let her leave the Hells to make her think otherwise.

@@carlotacosta9193 I went to the episode to check, you're correct. Vex gets the killing shot. That's why the tree grows from within his corpse. Raishan goes and tears Vorugal's throat off after the fact.
