They managed to make every spiderman's movement different: Gwen has long graceful swings and jumps, because she does ballet, Miles incorporates parkour into movement (In the first movie Peter told him spidermen swing and not run, but the movie was about Miles doing his own thing, so he combined the two). And Pavitr is the only spiderman that uses his legs too. And Miguel goes full werewolf mode and climbs with his claws.

It wasn't delayed because of the strike (animation unions aren't striking). It was originally planned for March, but it came out that they hadn't even started animating it yet so there was no way it would be done. There was also apparently some horrible treatment from Lord in this movie and a hundred animators quit the movie.

Just so you know, the spot was a character in the spider-man universe, but sadly it was only used as a laughing stock, villain-of-the-week kinda character (In the comic he appears, Spider-man has trouble fighting him because he's laughing soo much at him). Which makes his frustrations in this movie "meta", in a way. But I think their decision of making him an actual threat was amazing, it shows they can find so much potential even with the smaller side characters. Edit: Spot was mostly mocked in his early appearances in the comics. He was eventually taken more seriously, hunting down a russian mafia to avenge his son, who fell in a coma after being shot. But he was pretty much always used as a minor side character.

In the first comic he appears in tho, Spider-Man is completely trounced by the Spot and only survives cuz the Spot just decides to leave Guy is so OP, yet he’s turned into a laughing stock for no reason. The Spot went from comedic relief to cosmic horror in about an hour. They had us in the dark, wondering who was gonna be the "true villain", and I doubt anyone suspected it was gonna be The Spot

The last time I saw the Spot animated was in the 90’s Spider-Man when the Kingpin stole his portal tech leading to Spider-Carnage coming from another dimension to destroy the multiverse by detonating a bomb inside a portal and Madam Web gathered multiple Spider-Men from across the multiverse to save the multiverse. It had one of the earliest Stan Lee cameos where Spider-Man got to meet the real Stan Lee.

As someone who believes that some of the hands down best moments of the Reimi films are Peter's interactions with Aunt May, I adore how so far this trilogy just DOES NOT MISS with the family interactions. Genuinely, Miles talking to his Mom near the middle of the movie is probably one of the best family member interactions I have ever seen in film, animated or otherwise.

You choose the parts that you have worked on and the qualities you know you have to share with your further employer. You bring what you have to offer, not a half-true story. (Irl is of course complicated, someone could be an ex-convict, and that could be a thing that needs to be addressed. I watched a documentary on an mexican estaurant and they run the place while accepting many different people. Sure, that is a story, but not one that started out of gaining some upper hand. It started and grew because the intentions are true. It's pure.)

Gwen literally says that the friendship between her and Miles is “different” than the one she has with Hobie. She clearly has feelings for Miles and considers him the only person she can be vulnerable around and share her anxieties with.

Donald Glover is the reason Miles Morales exists! 😄 Before Amazing Spiderman came out people started saying he could be spiderman, with Stan Lee even supporting the idea. Then Brian and Sara created Miles Morales. Donald then voiced Miles in a cartoon, but was too old to play him, so he played Uncle Aaron in Homecoming. And now he plays a live action Prowler in Spiderverse.

I was a little nervous seeing how you weren't too fond of Hobie at first since a lot of people (myself included) loved him right off the bat, but I actually really enjoyed seeing you warm up to him over time- since he was intentionally written to have that effect. He starts out as a loud, somewhat one-dimensional character that's funny and enjoyable to watch, but doesn't seem to have that much depth. This is meant to fool the audience into thinking he's unsuspecting and not needing to be taken seriously, only for him to slowly reveal himself as an absolute MVP of the movie. Whether you liked him or you hated him, the way his true character seeped through so seamlessly and yet so unexpectedly is enough to make anyone respect him. Now that clever little twist right there solidifies him as one of my favorite characters in any movie ever- the writers are seriously geniuses and it was awesome seeing their craft taking effect :)

i think thr third movie is going to reveal that he's not even a spider-man at all, and the only reason his universe and pavitr's universe were effected at all was because Miguel and Spot aren't spider peopld at all. Miguel wasn't even bit by anything, he even uses fake webs. I think their interference in universes not meant for them is what's dangerous, and that's going to shatter Miguel

I disagree about the movie being incomplete. It started and ended with Gwen for a reason. So that while its, yes, a Part 1 to a Part 2, Gwen's arc was the main point, with Miles' escapades within and through his part 1 inspiring the conclusion to Gwen's arc. Across the Spiderverse is a SpiderGwen movie sharing the time with a Miles sequel.

The third movie will probably get delayed. The producer and co-writer, Phil Lord, notoriously asked for some pretty bad animation things when this film was in production. Sometimes writers change things last minute during production, which is usually fine in live-action during principal photography because you can just... change the scene, but with animation you have to have that stuff done before the animation process is in full-throttle or else you're going to have animators probably overworking to get the film done in time--which is what happened here. He did way too many rewrites, and now there's a whole bunch of different "versions" with changes for different scenes because he kept doing rewrites and the animators kept having to update things. Overall, the tl;dr is Phil Lord has some great concepts, but's an absolutely terrible producer of animation. With how overworked some of the staff were for this movie, I don't think there's any possible reality in which the third movie is complete by next year (which is when they announced it to be released), at least on-time and as intended.

First time I saw this with my dad and siblings, my dad kept saying on the way home afterwards he felt that Gwen's story part should have been cut, that the movie shouldn't have been 2 hours long and I disagreed with him but I couldn't put it into words, but watching you and hearing your take lets me put into more coherent thoughts why this movie wouldn't have been as good if it took out Gwen's part, she is the parallel to Miles, she's the in link to the Spider-Verse in this movie that we needed, we wouldn't have been as understanding or overwhelmed I think if we just had Mile's point of view.

The whole scene with his mom at the end hits so different when you know he's in the wrong dimension. Definitely worth the rewatch. All the subtle things like her pointing out his hair being different, her eye colour being different, her saying she has to take care of herself and Miles but no mention of Jeff, etc.

Fun fact about Olivia Octavius: in the original version of the first movie's script, at the end of the battle after being hit by a truck Liv sees the rift between dimentions and hops in it (she also drops "The power of the multiverse in the palm of my hand..." line that Spot later used). The animation for the scene was even in production but it was deleted in the end. So yeah, the theory on her making an appperance in the future makes lots of sense.

I watched in the theatres and omg this has got to be the best film I’ve ever watched. This movie brought me so much joy when I was in a bad depressive episode. And my attention is still rapt and glued to the screen because this movie pulls me in and makes me happy like nothing else does (as someone who’s not a mega fan b/c she’s never read a Marvel/DC comic in her life). shark not recognizing spectacular spider-man is kind of making me crave a reaction of it from him. unlikely to ever happen plus it wouldn’t even get to end on a super satisfying note because of the shows untimely death (aka cancellation) but man…. i’d love to see it anyways. idk if he’d even like it i think i just crave it cause i really want more people on youtube to react to it. i’ve been seeing a few more people react to it lately but to have shark be one of those people would be epic. again, def not gonna happen i just can’t help imagining it

@freerobux49 as if that's a small difference. Projections are also higher resolution than blu rays or streaming. Plus much better audio. There is no comparison. It's almost the same difference as watching sport on tv or live. I've watched the movie in theatre on imax screen and in 4k on my big oled tv and there's just no comparison. On tv it doesn't look or sound half as good as the theatre

I think everybody forgot that this movie was originally announced as Across The Spider-Verse Part 1. They just changed Part 2 to have its own name. A lot of people were surprised/annoyed by the sudden ending lol

I watched this on the movies and liked it, but for some reason watching it again now I simply LOVED it. I think your excitement helped, but overall I feel like this movie has a great rewatch value. One thing that made me down a little was that when the machine took the DNA from the spider I immediately realized that he was being sent to the wrong universe, which made the whole reveal feel silly. But seeing you reacting to that the moment it should made me realize how great it was (also surprised me because you're usually very attentive, but I'm glad you weren't this time). Your whole realization of the Gwen-told-her-dad-so-now-he-is-safe went waaaaay over my head and I only realized it now because you said so. Anyway, great reactions as usual.
