"A whisper of Marseille...." Haha, yes! I clicked on this video so fast when I saw the title, I already had a cuppa in hand ready for a wee mid morning break so this was perfect. Thank you so much for the shout out 🥰 ...goodness, you have one of the first pouches I made, I've improved so much since then but I am so glad you still like the one I made for you. I am SO impressed that you can riffle your Jean Noblet, I really struggle to unless I break the deck into two parts and riffle shuffle them seperately. Thanks for the romp through your collection. x

You taught me to love Marseille decks. I used to have only one for many years only as a historical bit in my collection. Now I have six. I appreciate the beauty after watching many of your videos,🥰

Oh, yeah! One of my favourite things is to geek out on Marseille, so naturally this video has made me so excited & I saved it to watch as an evening treat! Thank you @Tom Benjamin! YES, Marseille decks are very beautiful and we are so fortunate to have such a variety to choose from these days! A few things you mentioned I so love - the J-M David's Book, Kelly Bear's Pouches, the Noblet, Flornoy's Dodal, Yves Reynaud's decks, CBD (my first TdM that sparked my love for Marseille! and I'm so blessed to have his Indie Version of the deck I got from him before his passing)... Oh, I so love the Italian Version of the Trionfi you have! That's the version I always wanted, but missed out on, so my copy is in English. P.S. You have inspired me to pull out my Rosenwald!

Yes! The bulging eyes of the Flornoy-Dodal! I was on a long hunt for that deck, just for the eyes. I finally purchased it from France. What a treat. Thanks for sharing your collection.

So many lovely decks, only a few of which I have. Thanks for sharing! ❤😊 I really like that Benedetti one every time I see it -- something about the totally non-stylized coins I really like. One Marseille style deck which does have diversity in terms of skin colour is the Tarot Sirene, the mermaid themed one by Wandering Oracle. I will say it does seem to do the "associate one complexion with each suit" thing for the courts, which I do not love, but in the majors there is also diversity, and there are also a wider range of body shapes and sizes than pretty much any mermaid themed deck I've ever seen.

This was a cool trip. I'm surprised you don't have the companion deck to the Marshmallow Tarot. The Tarot Siréne has some slightly brown skin tones as well. ^^

Hi, I would love the names of your decks written in order you showing them underneath, if possible - with timing. Great topic, but difficult to follow without understanding the names of the decks properly for someone who wasn't into Marseille decks before. Thanks.

Love this! I love YVes Reynaud decks. I have the Gassmann and the Madenie == which I love. I am considering getting the Jean Pierre Laurent reprint. Not sure yet. But it does look lovely. I too really want I diverse Marseille deck.

I’m nearly done with a repainting of the 1650 noblet marseille for myself that includes diverse race and body types and have been considering getting it printed just so I can send you a copy

I love that!!

@@thefoolsjournal fabulous, I just contacted a company to scan the images so I can print them. It will likely be a couple months but I’ll take a look and see if you have a PO Box listed somewhere (if not feel free to email it to me info@casloll.com)

Hi Tom do you have an e book version of your book tarot on earth? I have recently been trying to collate all my books onto my iPad so that I don’t need to carry so many books around. I would really like to read your book though as I’m learning to work with marseille.

I adore the Millennium Marseille but I feel as you do that there wasnt intent way back then for any sacred geometry. I love the colors and lines. I g ok t mine from Collect Tarot. Really miss Jim.

Love seeing these! I remember when I thought TdM was boring, garish, etc...which is hard to believe b/c now I see all the quirkiness and joy of these. I just love them. I actually need a good mass market version...I have the Flornoys, a Tarot Sheet Revival, etc. I can't actually find the CBD in stock at any of the usual sources, though!

Thank you 🤗 I am beginning to fill up all the Marseille holes in my tarot collection as I am coming to love historical reproductions and their subtle and mysterious differences .

I love the marseille/ playing card mixes we are seeing, as someone who reads both its heavenly 😍 So interested in that Rosenwald from gamecrafter. In have the Gulliver Lenormand which i love and is rather a different style to the tarot (that didnt appeal to me personally size wise)
@ConnieIsMijnNaam Жыл бұрын
The tarot of Gulliver is not named after Gullivers Travels. It’s named after its creator Gulliver l’Aventurière. (Who may be is named after Gullivers Travels)

I miss the ginger deck, the tarot of musterberg could be in the 'marseille kissed' category 😊, I think. And it falls in the category of ' if you don't like classic marseille but interested in this kind of decks' ... 😜 Thanks for the overview. I do enjoy your commentaries 🌈

29:11 playing card associations throw me off- even though I KNOW them… i don’t know why but I always want to make clubs be pentacles. (Ok I guess because they are sometimes associated with work which makes me think of money lol)

Gulliver is the name of the designer... I imagine it has nothing to do with Gulliver's travels, unless in some direct way her name may be taken from that Gulliver.

Wasn't marseille made mainly in like 17th century France? ...... which would've had basically all white people over there? So why have a problem with that? It's just part of history. Btw, I am not white, I just don't make a big deal out of these things. Thanks for the video though! Great content Really enjoyed it! 🙂

Oh dang you, Tom Benjamin. Now I have to buy that Gassman. Intrigued by the Marco Benedetti. I'm already in love with Ryan Edward's deck (but wouldn't it be 1000x more awesome if it were actual playing card stock... Have you seen the Rare Triumphs deck by Ian Cumpstey????) - and bless you: "unless you can cite a source, then you're fucking lying" xoxoxoxo
@thefoolsjournal3 жыл бұрын
Ohhh the Gassman is such a delight! And the Benedetti is super affordable. I can’t wait to have these conversations in person at RS!!!!
