Whats wrong with Mascherano playing as a CB? He have played almost 350 match for Barcelona, only an elite can do it in a club like Barcelona. I never liked Mascherano being put at CB. Ok I understand that Barca have Busquets but Mascherano played CDM at Liverpool alongside Xabi Alonso and he played well. Barca like to have homegrown players in their team. The likes of Valdes, Puyol, Pique (after he left Man Utd) Busquets, Iniesta, Xavi and Messi have all played well.

I agree that it was a shame to see him not playing in his favoured DM role - he was brilliant there for Liverpool in that midfield with Gerrard and Alonso - but he shouldn't really be on this list. Played too many games and won too much for that. I'd throw Djibril Cisse in there. I think he was under-utilised by Benitez and should've started up front for Liverpool far more often than he did. He was wasted on the right. I'm surprised Joe Cole didn't make an appearance here too. Same goes with Sanchez. Hell, you should do a Top 10 players ruined by Jose Mourinho!
