Those bearings were spun. Without having anything machined oversize or anything the chances of them spinning again are even more likely now.

nice. I had to replace mine in a 99 as the engine was just to worn over time. stupid place sold me an engine that hada bent crank...yes a bent crank. couldnt tell really at first but over a few months started having to replace front main seals a lot. finally pulled it out and ordered a new crank and bearings (even though mechanics said I was wrong). surgically dropped the crank in with an engine puller, torqued it all down, put it in the truck and cranked it over. had to say a prayer afte the first try, sounded like it was going to break, but second time it turned over and nearly 100,000 miles later its still on the road. oh, and keep the 3.0...I take care of mine with mostly motorcraft parts and have about 370,000 miles on mine.

I just picked up a 95 mazda b2300 ( pretty much a ford ranger ) for cheap as a project car. It's 4 inline right now but I'm thinking of doing an engine swap and putting in a 3.0 V6 vulcan ( not sure if it can be done pretty sure it can). Now you got me thinking about building the V6 before putting it in 🤔

Seeing how to measure for replacement bearings would be great. Preparing to do a very similar thing with my 3.slow this summer

A good set of calipers will do the job.

I just received my master rebuild kit for my 95 ranger 3.0. it's 7 degrees outside and today I will begin my rebuild. Would you happen to know the spacing on the pistons rings?

love ur you tube channel . getting ready to rebuild my 2004 ranger 3.0 . what do you recomend for a total engine kit . ( what company and name ) thanks for the advice . ..rod

You need to 'magnaflux' those heads. My ranger has cooked four heads. Ordering aluminum heads next month, and take out those cast iron heads. They bust really easy.. known issue, but ford didn't want to fix it... manufactured obsolescence.

Are you only replacing the bad pistons? Anyway, the 3.0 engine was made at the Ford Lima Engine Plant in Lima, Ohio. Look on the engine, it should say so. My father retired from there and was on the 3.0 engine line. If you replacing all the pistons, I will take a good one as a show piece.
@HitchinMitch3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I'll be replacing all the Pistons and bearings. I've found some kits that'll have everything I need. That is definitely a good story behind having one on display! I'll gladly send one out to you. If you could email me the address.

Mine were worse than that, I put stock size A series bearings back in it, I'm at 227,000 miles still going, oil pumps are weak on these motors, I placed two washers behind the pressure relief spring on the pump

If that's a spun Barron it will just spin a gain unless you get the crank machined and the rod resized ,,,, I don't trust plastic gage I torque my Barron cap with Barron in it and Mike with calipers the I d and go to that main on the crank and mike the 0 D and subtract the i d from the o d and that Will give you're clearance I do that even after I get everything back from the machine shop , I recheck every main and rod to make sure I got the right clearances because they mess up some times because that's a lot of work best to double check that way you won't be doing you're work twice

My 99 ranger 2.5 has a rod knock but I took the rods out and checked the bearings and they don’t have anywhere close to as much wear as that engine my crank is still smooth would anyone know why that is
