I was blessed with a third set of grandparents and they weren’t biological family. They were my dads foster parents when his parents weren’t the best. They had an u told number of foster children in their home. All of their foster kids got to experience a love and teachings like no other. Grandpa Bill taught us kids so much about carpentry, cars and life that there’s no way any of us could’ve ever relayed him. And grandma Diane loved us all fiercely and took time to teach us about cooking and the Bible. They’re no longer with us on earth but they’re with us in our hearts and in our memories. And for that I’m forever thankful.

I love the prospective you put on foster care and adoption. So true that there is joy and sadness. We fostered 2 girls from ages 6 and 7 until we adopted them at 9 and 10. Today they are 12 and 13 and they have brought us immense joy. I read a quote once that has stuck with me over the years. "A child born to another woman calls me mommy. The magnitude of that tragedy and the depth of that privilege are not lost on me." I will forever be grateful to the woman who brought our 2 daughters into this world. No matter the circumstances they are the beauty that came from it.

My hubby and I just came off of a 10 month stint of being foster parents for a sibling set of a 6 year old girl and 3 year old boy. It was very tough as we battled significant mental health concerns for the 6 year old and significant physical issues for the 3 year old all having to be addressed by us as this was their first removal from their home. I could not agree more with your statement about brokenness and sorrow and loss. Brokenness made beautiful indeed. Tons of emotional struggles absolutely happened! It’s truly a lot! The kids are now reunited with one parent and we are thankful but sad too as that may be all we ever hear about those kiddos due to privacy reasons. I am so happy you guys are walking this path that the Lord has orchestrated and I’m praying for you too!

I was a foster kid (12-18) and I'm so thankful for foster families who care for (may or may not be) medically fragile children. I'm disabled and even though my medical needs are well controlled and non life threatening I was unable to find a foster home for my needs, so I spent my time bouncing between group homes. It's a desperately needed area of fostering to help with and I'm so thankful that you guys have made a place in your lives for it - and from what it sounds like supporting the bio family instead of the typical ''foster to adopt'' where the foster family are hoping to keep the child and not supporting reunification how they should. Thank you, prayers to the bio family and the baby that their story has a happy ending where they can be together.

Congratulations and thank you for fostering. As tge adoptive Mom of a now almost 20 year old son who was in foster care before adoption, I know firsthand how very important it is to have wonderful, loving, caring foster families. One of the most special gifts we ever received was a photo album that the foster family made so that we could see him grow. They also gave us his hospital bracelet and first clothes and toys. I encourage you to do this, too - that is, if he's going to be adopted by another family. It makes such a difference.
