I don't think you guys realize just how much good this podcast does for the world. You give people both an escape from real life as well as a mirror displaying the best in humanity. Well done! 👏🏻

Actually a lot of female lotr fans I know love Aragorn because he’s NOT a typical alpha male lead. He’s allowed to be soft, he cries, he caresses and kisses his male friends and tells them he loves them unabashedly. Same with Frodo and Sam. You don’t see that a lot with stereotypical male heroes. Also lotr is one of the only high fantasy stories I can think of that doesn’t depict (sexual) violence against women on screen/on page at every twist and turn. I think that also contributes to the comfort a lot of women feel about the series when compared to the genre as a whole.

Loving these live podcasts!! Such great energy all around 🙌🏻✨ Hmm, why would a film trilly brimming with upstanding, attractive male characters appeal to women? Lemme think about that one for a hot sec...hahaha that had me laughing so hard, loved that question so much. Also when you're tiny even for a women the hobbits are not intimidating...putting that out for a friend 🤪🤣 Thank you as always for making Tuesdays 20 times better Billy and Dom!! 🙌🏻💙

My son is 10 years old and he suddenly got into "The Two Towers" and that is my fave of the three. I love that he and I can share in this! And OMG...so ever since I've been 16 yrs old, I've heard or read or experienced something every day about Phil Collins, randomly. At my old job, on tv, at open mics I've played at...and now, he's snuck in to my favorite podcast. Lol just...what?

The thing that connects with me about LOTR is that the hobbits are weak in the traditional sense but kick ass anyways. Women are told we’re “the weaker sex” and that makes some of us quite insecure. Especially me because I’m also disabled.
@emerraldx2 жыл бұрын
doesn’t hurt that there are a couple of kick-ass laaaydeee’s in the trilogy as well (just thankful Peter didn’t cave to the warrior Princess Arwen clamor even if he did let her steal Glorfindel’s limelight) who made good role models for the complexity of womanhood, from loyalty and support to fierce defense of friend and country with none of that woke mambo jumbo to cheapen the meaning

Jolly Ranchers are like a piece of Americana, however, when I was a kid they were only shaped like long and flat sticks and you had to suck on just a piece at a time and as it dissolved it would shape into a candy dagger. 70s and 80s we ate weapons. 🤣

Leg o Lamb, Boramir, Karl Urban, sheesh not just eye candy but some ethics and reliability, etc. yeah. if speaking of the books, Tolkien had a very strong Mother, and liked strong women characters, not certain the movies really conveyed that as well as the books, but at least better than the usual soggy misogyny of the day. PS in a silly thought, have you ever thought about remaking Men in tights with all your bff's, that would be hilarious.
