Super fun video! I loved the resist effect of the rub-ons, and the gold yarn borders - that was such a neat idea!

You’re so right. I’d have never suspected the “rub ons” would do that! And the thread borders I THINK might be managed using a common hole punch.
@FaerieDust
@FaerieDust 3 жыл бұрын
@@kkrolf2782 I'm sure you could just use a regular pair of scissors or a craft knife to cut slits in the corners, too! Don't need to buy a punch just for that :)

@@FaerieDust Yup, that’d do it, but I already have the hole punch. (I use it to punch a hole in the inside fold of xmas cards, attach an ornament hook through that and hang them all over my plantation shutters at Christmas time. Very festive!)

Here I sit in Houston while my house is being repaired after storm URI. I really was feeling very uninspired. Got the notification about this video and brought out all kinds of supplies. This video is one of the best I have ever seen on KZbin : creative, educational, humorous at times, and certainly one that inspires card making with existing supplies. Thank you.

My favorite video of yours is the one where you were walking along a stream in the Fall on your way back from a plein air painting session. I was a semi professional watercolor painter and I have not painted in several years. This setting was so beautiful and peaceful. There's much more to your videos than teaching us about techniques or supplies. I just wanted you to know that sometimes you help restore our souls. I'm so grateful.

A variation of that - to keep your fingers a bit cleaner - is to slide the bristles across a tongue depressor or an old ruler. But Lindsay is a “gitter done” kind of gal, so what the hey.

I’m sorry to hear your friend is no longer in close enough proximity to craft with you. I’ve often thought it would be a delight to share crafting ideas with a friend. It’s a shame there’s not a way to contact others to facilitate that kind of get-together ... “distanced”, of course.

Girl you were on fire in this video. You were a crafting fiend and I laughed half the time. Nothing like good card making and laughter all at one time. Thanks for the tip on the rub-ons. I tried to use a rub-on on a card just recently and it moved and some stuck and some broke. At least I could scratch it off and not lose my paper and the work I’d already done. You showed that some nice looking cards could be made with inexpensive supplies from Dollar Tree. I’ve seen the stencil wheels before and didn’t think they’d do too much. But if I see that feather stencil I’m getting that sucker.

Really good tips as usual. It is cool that you could find brushes in so many colors. That would make it so much easier than having to label with colored tape or markers. One thing stampers need to keep in mind is that there is a difference in silicon stamps and photopolymer ones. They both work, but many users report there is a difference in how much pressure they require to get the best results.

I loved this video. I have the Dollar Tree items you have. I also might have a way of storing your glue other than a glass. I had left over PVC couplings, 1/2” and 3/4”. I got glued them together with the 3..3/4” in the front and then 4..1/2" behind and another row of 1/2" a bit higher. To make something that resembles steps. I did use pattern paper to decorate before hot glueing. Holds my glue, stickles, and nuvo drops right along with a couple of suckers just in case I have to sit back and think about how I'm going to put the cards together. 🤣🤣

Leave it to Lindsay to once again demonstrate another adorable and financially accessible project! The hardest part is finding the dies and stamps in stock! But persistence will pay off. Watch out for those glue bears, they definitely bite ;-). When you're done with the rags, you can donate to a textile drive to be shredded for other uses. I apologized to my husband because of all the glitter I used at Christmas. He said, "it's okay, people will just think I've been to a strip club". Leave it to men.

Hey M B... You’ve got this! Cut ‘em apart, arrange, rearrange, change out the card bases, drag out some the OTHER STUFF you’ve got moldering in your stash... Nothing is so precious, nothing is so sacrosanct, that you can’t use some temporary adhesive on the elements, “mock it up”, and hang it on the fridge for a few days. If you like it, mail it. If you don’t, take it apart and give it another go.
@wombatiferous
@wombatiferous 3 жыл бұрын
@@kkrolf2782 it's less hoarding because they're precious and more because I normally stick to layering paper and avoid really dimensional stuff so they're really outside my usual zone! Hoping something will occur to me, though! I do wonder if the really chunky stickers would require a padded envelope, though. The post office doesn't like lumpiness.

Love your use it anyuway ideas! I bought some metallic water colors, paid a good bit for them and don't like them but paid to much to want to toss them. They'd be perfect for that spattering technique! You've made me look at spattering a whole new way.:-) Your cards turned out gorgeous! And I saw that stencil at my local $ Store! Now I'll have to go look at it again.

Great cards! I found the same stencils at my Dollar Tree in Tennessee!!!! I also found the four square you showed in your DT haul. I already had that same kind of stencil with written number words and mathematical symbols, also found at DT. I am so much better at stenciling than at rubber stamps. For that I call myself, 'The Queen of Smudge'. LOL. Sadly, my DT does not have a crafters corner. Just part of an aisle. Thanks for your videos. I look forward to them daily.

@@thefrugalcrafter That's such a bummer. My only other local craft store is Hobby Lobby. Or sometimes Walmart has useful stuff. I hate paying shipping on items.

Lindsay, I really enjoy your videos. You are funny and very pleasant. Have you ever tried Art Glitter Glue? A very good glue for just about anything. Not “stringy” but is temperature sensitive. Or try Bearly Art Glue. I love them both. And I like the Tombow Multi Mono Glue. Please keep up the wonderful videos.

I had lots of recommendations for art glitter glue. I'll order some once the weather warms up!

@@thefrugalcrafter Lindsay, Art Glitter Glue is what I use. It's a bit pricey but so little is necessary to adhere something, even heavy embellishments. I recommend buying a small bottle, to make sure you like it because it grabs immediately and some people do not like that. If you make a mistake, you cannot pull that layer off as it destroys what's underneath. It's kind of like a liquid form of scor-tape, or red line tape because it grabs quickly and it's super duper strong.

Wonderful video. Love your sense of humor 😊. Great tips too. You are so right these are classy and unique. Love them all. I never used rub one because I couldn't get them to transfer. Terrific idea to use your die cutting machine. Hugs

Hi, Smarty Pants! The transferring of the rub-ons through a die cutting machine makes your title "Crafty Genius aka Smarty Pants" come to life. I envy your ability to just play with your supplies and have private crafty time. Now I have a funny for you. I have the industrial heat gun from Harbor Freight. I was doing a video a few years ago and I was heat embossing. I had just turned the video off and the heat gun let out an unladylike belch of fire about 3 feet long. Smoke filled the room as I let out a squeal shrill enough to make those in another town hear me. After she cooled down, I investigated why she let out a belch of fire. Nothing was inside or around the nozzle. The manager of Harbor Freight says "They are meant to be used in shorts bursts. You can't leave them running without slow movements." Lesson learned, lol. Thank you for another long video and for the company.
