I love the look of watercolors. I don't usually attempt this type of project because of not being able to do things just like it "suppose"to be. I like how you said that is why we have cameras. I also liked the drawing tip about starting with shapes and not details. Both of those tips are very helpful. Another hang up that I have is using and mixing colors. I wouldn't have known which ones to use to get the result wanted.

Yes, well kind of LOL! I went to school to be a radio DJ and did that for a few years and decided if I was going to work for peanuts I might as well paint! I started teaching lessons out of my studio to pay the bills and painted and sold my art on the side. After kids I closed my studio and started designing projects for magazines and commercial illustrating. Now I am back to painting and I think that's where I will stay!

if you are having a hard time drawing something you should turn it upside down, your brain stops trying to draw what it "thinks" it should look like and you draw what you see:)

Hey, Lindsay, not sure if there is enough interest to warrant a video, but I was wondering if you paint faces (sometimes known as "girls" or "art dolls")? I've seen videos on mixing colors for faces and blushing/highlights/shadows, however, I can't seem to paint them without it looking overworked or without leaving harsh lines. I can't get a nice blended face. Just thought I'd put it out there, if you are ever looking for subjects for watercolor videos. Thanks!!!!

I have a question I have been meaning to ask you and when you mentioned refilling the palette on this video it reminded me. I recently got some watercolor paints in tubes and a palette to learn to paint with. I put some of the paints in the spaces in my palette and they were fine that day. But when I came back after they had dried they had cracked and they fall out of the palette. Your paints look like they are staying in a brick like shape, do you add something to the paint??? What am I missing here? You have inspired me to learn to paint.

some brands of paint do that, the paint is still fine. collect the bits and spray them with water and add some glycerin or honey to them to keep them semi moist:)
