Man, thanks for the help. I had so much sediment in my water. I had installed a whole house filter but the filter comes before the water heater and the water heater was already full of gunk, so the cold side is fine now, but the hot was still cloudy. I decided to put a filter on the hot side for the washer. I kept getting leaks until I watched your video - now all is well! One thing - most filters and housings only go up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit so if filtering hot water, you'll need a housing and filter designed for hot water. I got a Boshart "S" series housing and what looks like the same carbon filter you have - both designed for temps up to 125 F. Thanks for helping me solve my leak issues!!

Awesome I stopped using the black hose as they break and make a mess so I now use the stainless steel braided ones just my choice.

I agree i do too as long as they have the metal ends on them i have broke alot of the plastc ended ones . Our little local hardware store only had these so i had to make do but we looking at changing how we do laundry and possibly a dryer that would use warm air from our woodburning furnace. Ill def change those lines when i redo it. Thanks for watching

Water softeners, at least in our home, doesn’t get all the lead out, and so I think I’ll try adding filters to the washing machine on the hot, and cold sides.

Definitely not the blue ones like this. I have heard there's some coming from overseas with the clear plastic that the plastic welds breakdown. That said I've only seen the clear molded ones anywhere in the US so far. I know that my grandmother has one from 1962 still hooked up in her house to her hot water line. So I'd say you're good generally

in my country i use this brand too . but it is not lasting because of the dirty water in our country. sob . right now, i am using a 5 layers sands filter+ 1 membrane filter+ then when it reached my kitchen the water is still so we installed another 3 in 1 bottles filter( we used to use this dupont filter) but all still no good at the end for the drinking water we installed the CUCKOO machine from korea( i think its 6 filters inside), then we able to see clean water. * we are living in the city, i think its Manganese in the water gov says its safe to consume....

Why not use a wye instead of a getting a mixing hose?

That's a fair question The reason is this is supposed to be a non plumbing option so screw on and done even a threaded y with require tape or dope and tools . Think of a single mom or college kid trying learn do this. Just a basic quick off shelf option. All these items are also sold at Walmart late at night They don't sell plumbing supplies like a y though. Thank you for watching and commenting

I have one in front of me and I wish I could send you a picture of it the one in front of me has two ball valves on it that lead from a 5/8 connection into two 5/8 connections a lot of times you'll see them in the hardware store made out of plastic some of them have shut off valves on them others don't
