Top tip on the stuck glass that will be in the crevices of the door , spraying some underseal in the door will stick it to the door rather than you hearing it rattle for the next 15 years , did one of these 2 months ago , nothing stolen , just popped the window , customer bought glass I fitted it 🇬🇧👍

Did this on my old focus , only issue i noticed after was water in bottom of door in heavy rain but mechanic said it was normal and that why the holes are there , but who knows rubbers seemed fine to me , good insurance premium saver though , nice job

Nice video but im sure who ever tried taking your car watches your vidoes and knows why he couldn't take it. Please get a full steering lock because this might happen again Steve
@187LethalSlug4 жыл бұрын
Exactly the same happened to mine but they managed to drill and force the lock. Cost me £20 to replace the drivers knee pocket, the thieves ripped mine to bits.

Similar thing happened to my Titanium X. I solved the keyless cloning issue by using 'Defender' signal blocking pouches for the keys which work, but didnt realise the Onboard Diagnostic Port stays live (inside the flap Steve was going to velcro) so... break into the car and even without the key signal, plug a £50 machine bought online into the port and in 30 seconds alarm off and engine started. Poor security. Ive now fitted the Fiesta ADR system in place of the Ford security and disabled the port.

It's great how easy they are to change, these days. Having tried to do the same on a Mk 1 Capri 45 years ago. that's when the class was factory push fitted, into a long rubber channel. Fine, if you'd access to a Ford factory. Of course, I'd been the fool to buy a brand new door window. Your a very inspirational guy, to say the least. Thanks again for another very helpful and dare I say enjoyable - How to do the job, video. // So some rotten thief tried to steal your car, we're all glad to see they didn't get very far. Breaking the glass to gain entry they got in, not happy pulling the plastic door they begin, to wreck it instead so you've to find another, would we all like to kick his ass? Oh brother, we hope you can soon find the correct type, lastly thanks for a tip re lengthening a pipe! Yours Shane the poet, now you know it! ;-)

New cars can be a pain to do jobs on , did a window regulator on a VW touran the other day , door panel , switches and reflector ights out of door , then take metal frame off door frame ,(bolted and riveted) , then remove the top frame off the door , bolted and riveted , fit regular to panel off the car , (riveted again from inside with special long rivets ), rebuild everything you removed , only took 4 1/2 hours , they are not all easy , and I do this for a living , so have all tools , workshop and 40 + years motor trade experience 😂😂😎

Two things made me laugh on this vid - that have happened to me many times when doing door glass. You jiggle the glass and it meets some real resistance, then the damn glass just falls away down into the door (and you think "shit I nearly smashed it"). The other thing was when the OBD door flopped down at the end after it looked like it would stay closed. Nice vid mate - I'm binge watching the SPS box set tonight. PS How come your thumbnails show bright sunny weather but it always raining in the vids? Good old South Wales!

I find if you slide the rubber seal/runner guides out completely then flip it inside out, it lets you just brush the glass off with the end of a hoover, flip it right way round and refit, (could use some soapy water if it's a tight fit) but it will tend to find its own way down the guide channel

Another thing as well, perhaps put a clear film on the Windows (like tint) so if it does happen again it's that little bit more to get in it 'cause it'll stay whole and then it should be less to clean up too. Should've done it to mine as soon as it got broken into but didn't get time before it happened again :(

I haven't owned a car for around 20 years as I've been fortunate enough to have company cars. So my question is, if you have a break in and damage but repair it yourself, do you need to declare it to your insurance company? You should be good with windows Steve :-)
@anthonyclancy23224 жыл бұрын
Jon Matthews what a stupid question mate, if you declare to the insurance company after you’ve repaired yourself only one thing can happen your insurance premium will shoot up!! For no reason as you saved them on paying for the repairs
