What a cracking line "They aren't like they used to be, they have banned all sorts of chemicals and stuff like arsenic, it's all rubbish now". Doing a great job on the bushwacker there, was always one of my favourite jobs.

Richard you should drop a couple of grabs of dung in each gate at the start of the winter that would help keep pouchers out of field and dung is easy to spread in spring .

Sorry to hear you've had a visit from the Welsh branch of the Caravan Club. Always going to be a problem until Plod stop being scared of them. We use Chestnut for fence posts here in the South East. No preservatives, just keep the stacked for 2 or 3 years before banging them in. I've some that have lasted over 20 years in the ground. Good Luck with your Hedging!

Hi I have been out driving a 7.5tonner this week and listening to radio 2, my 3 in 10 would have to be either the Rolling Stones, Status Quo or Madness 😂😂 I know what you mean about thinking about things while on a tractor I would be daydreaming when chain harrowing or rolling with my Dad's tractor as it had no radio in it. Hope the police catch the poachers for you, perhaps some bales in gateways so they can't get them open far enough to even walk through and barbed wire along the top and bottom😉

You should be playing a Hedge Hopper Anonymous tune while knocking the tops of the hedges. They were an RAF group that did low level flying. For my sins I was the Small Faces roadie back in 1965, soon after joining them they they did the dance club above Burtons the Tailors, Cheltenham. most Burton's had a snooker hall and dance above each store. Humping a Hammond Organ up to the 2nd floor is no joke. Stay safe out there.

Get a scaffolding plank and bang a whole load of 6 inch nails through it, if you catch them in the field again lay it across the gateway and force them over it.
@russellpetrie1192 жыл бұрын
you need to clean them rams up with a rag the dirt on them can get in and damage the seals when pushing in and out

You can tell where people left hedges to grow and not maintained when you see 10foot+ wide hedges If only manual labour wasn't so expensive it would be great to see more hedges being layed farmers would gain a bit of land back from hedges and they look amazing

Your fighting a losing battle rich even if the police can't do anything the only thing you can do is block your gates off with some thing heavy they can't move nice job on the hedge gives you a few metres

Should start blocking them up again or like the main ones from the road into them it won’t be the best but it’s better than the fields getting torn up

For pouchers keep a chain and padlock on you outside gate. Trap them in your field, call the police. if they escape on foot its a long walk home and the police have their vehicle.

Unfortunately the Police aren't interested rural crimes they're under resourced and frankly scared of the offenders. Facing armed travellers with no respect for anyone or anything I can't blame them tbh. Far easier to patrol Facebook and social media from the safety and comfort of the office. Or sit by the roadside handing out tickets, that's frankly their only interest £££'s

@thefunkyfarmer2 жыл бұрын
yep i know what you mean but this is cut according to Higher Level Stewardship guidance which requires the hedges to be cut every 2 years. The hedge definitely takes more of a hammering but it does provide more covering for birds and produce more berries in the 2nd year
