I work on my own all the time, I lay all the posts out first then move along the line could not knock the posts in without using the clamp, I modified my post knocker put the spool valve close to the mast so don't have to have someone on the tractor, not nice getting splashed in the face with creosote you need gloves and a full face mask, your very lucky to have a friend that will come and help, enjoyed your video

Great video Richard and a great mate in Ian. From all the fans, Thanks Ian. I agree the presure treated timber with the green stuff are nowhere near as good as proper creosote treated, they just don't last like creosote. This is just me thinking outside the box (or should that be slurry lagoon). Is there no way you could have a small tank filled with creosote somewhere and just buy standard posts and dip them? Maybe an old IBC with a series of holes cut in the top so the posts would stand vertical? Something like that wouldn't be a hazard for cattle trying to drink from it. Leave them soaking for a while then just up-end them so the full length would be done. If it was possible it could let you build up a small reserve stock for not too much effort. It's just a thought. Ooo... A haunch of Venison sounds like a great make it meat video😋.

To just put the odd stake in why not use loader on your tractor? Use the bucket with a bit of soil in for added weight and with double acting rams you will get them in a lot easier than using sledgehammer
@glennlingard7851

It doesn’t work like that unfortunately, you can see in his video how much it takes to knock posts in against the hedge, hard and dry ground.
@paulweston2326
@paulweston2326 2 жыл бұрын
Well it works on our hard and stoney ground, as I said for the odd stake use the loader, not for a full fence run, we use our old 50B, either front bucket or back actor, hell of a lot easier than using a sledgehammer
@glennlingard7851
@glennlingard7851 2 жыл бұрын
@@paulweston2326 true about the odd stake, we normally make a hole with our gablic first, then use the teleporter to knock it in, one thing though, use a rod or something to keep it straight unlike Richard using his hand, bloody dangerous really as you maybe seen one stake break in half.

Need 2 at each end,stayed tight and then a few in between...sorry but it's the basics of any fence....£9 posts just won't do it on their own. Strainers in first,stay them, then pull some wire in a straight line,which gives you your height for in between posts. Get your hands on some imported larch posts which won't need any stinking preservative on them. I'll stop ranting now!! Crack on🤔🙉😬
