Hi Richard and the boys and Mrs C. So sorry to see the test results. Such a horrible stressful situation for you all. TB is such a nightmare. I’m in Cork Ireland 🇮🇪 and I know one farmer who is only short distance from me has lost his entire herd recently due to it. Richard I hope things improve for you in 2025. Wishing you all a lovely Christmas 🎄

Farming is a constant gamble, you need a bit of money put aside to cover breakdowns etc. I agree with everything you said. So sorry to hear about the TB test, it must be a nightmare, try and stay positive. Hopefully Farmer P helped raise your spirits over a cup of "tea". Plus Ian has had a positive test, well one of his cows has, more bad news.

another tough outcome. be nice if someone from the government could visit a few farms to see for them selves how farming really is and perhaps they could give us some ideas as how the IHT could be paid from a industry that has to battle with all these issues. try not to think about it too much is my advice .........one day at a time. we've been down with t.b since july but just had our first clear test last week .........keeping our fingers crossed for another clear test in the spring

I'm not a farmer, so please tell me if I'm missing something but it seems to me that TB testing is like Covid PCR testing in terms of reliability. If cows test positive and at slaughter are found lesion free do they have it or not? Is the test actually working to keep our herd TB free or is it just a way of keeping pressure on farmers ? Would wholesale vaccination be a better policy?

Good morning Richard, after half expecting the sequel to Harrys car, we are brought back to reality with this video. It s terrible news for the farm but unfortunately today its a case of when not if you go down with TB. It shouldn t be this way i agree, i m sure you also remember the days when reading cattle for TB ,the vet would just walk past them all and just nod his head and say "yes ,all ok". As a fellow sufferer 10 years ago,you will need to keep a strong mind set as it can affect mental health with the devastation it creates, never mind financially. The innoculent used for testing was "updated" about 15 years ago and is arguably more prone to pick up reactions but theres nothing we can do about it, its government approved! One other thought, during the summer, you showed us deer running through your fields ,they could be carriers as also cloven hooved, what can be done about that? probably nothing, protected species and all that. As a closed herd you have the best chance of clearing it out, it may well take all this winter to achieve. As for the new tank cooler, that has to be general wear and tear, we all suffer with that, you have managed so well for so long with the old one, well done. Above all Richard keep your head up, theres no stigmer today having TB its become almost normal ? One last thing, you and your family have a good christmas, don t eat too much and don t work too hard. please keep us updated

It’s strange that most Tb reactors seem to be in the Gloucestershire and Carmarthen regions and I can remember years ago that farmers in Monmouthshire had a really bad experience of TB reactors but now that the dairy farms have gone down in the Monmouthshire area I don’t hear much about TB so much and one farm that I worked on had a very large Badger 🦡 set but never had any issues with TB but I really feel your sadness Rich , fingers crossed for a better year next year.

Farmers don't work a 40 hour a week, have 2 days off every week, have 4-6 weeks holidays a year guaranteed by law. It is about time some of those farmer knockers are put on a farm for a year and let them see what is rely like! That might shut their uneducated mouths!

Sorry for you Rich and Ian, I’ve always said TB test is out of date by 15/20 yrs, more studies need to establish on the situation, cows always seem to look well, as for injections, not surprisingly lumps will arise ! Covid injections for us was making us poorly for a couple of days after. More detailed science needs to be shown when animals are so called infected and proof from abattoirs, just my thoughts 👍🍻

What's the end goal of the powers that be? Do you think they want to hobble and suppress the working farms and the UK food chain to set up lucrative import deals for the top few to import food from other countries? Our high food quality production and welfare standards in the UK food industry seem to be awkward issues for the people and businesses keen on importing. They seem to be trying to wind up the agriculture UK industry, so the people have no choice but to accept hormones in meat, GMOs, BST in milk, and low animal welfare and husbandry standards that are the norm in many other countries' agriculture industry. I don't want to farm a factory; the UK landscape is not set up for big agg. A paying farm looks after the walls, fencing trees, and grass. It has a hand in every part of what you see out the window, reinvesting in the next crop or livestock and having money to reaper that length of the snow-damaged wall on the hillside, seeing a value in things that make the farm no money but are part of farming. The industrialists who lobby and have the ear of the rule makers can't import produce to match the standards the UK-produced goods carry and enjoy the unseen benefits, make the profits they want against a thriving UK farming sector. There's a real issue with trust at the moment. Not long ago, one of the ex-Politicians who has jumped on the tax family business MP bandwagon told people we did not need European fruit pickers; we could buy the soft fruits from offshore markets F the UK growers.

I've watched your enjoyable videos for years. I think farmers are far smarter than that waste of space Stammer and his buddies. I think it's simple how things should be in place regarding the inheritance tax. If farmer buys a tractor it is considered a tool, therefore the land should also be considered a tool and should not be taxed as long as the land is producing food for the country, no matter who owns it or inherits it. When the land is taken out of food production or sold onto a non food production situation then it should be taxed, I'm sure the farmers will except this. Just one little bit more regarding the black hole of £20 billion, if this amount is divided by 60 million roughly the population of the UK it comes out approximately £333.333333 per head. Which I'm sure a lot of hard working people would gladly pay to stop waste of space Stammer from his lies.

Why you don’t park the air compressor inside the milk room then won’t be outside. I think maybe they will last longer. If you could put them inside you’re not getting the weather and damp or snow and I think the machines rust if they’re outside faster was good to work and damp somehow like last time I was on my cousin‘s farm. They had real old compressors. They’re still using them and they have them in their milk room. Still using them.??
