Not sure if cause I had literally ZERO expectations but this Xbox Showcase was actually 🔥🔥 I'd give it a 8.5/10 maybe even a 9. Lots of good games shown, was entertaining mostly throughout, and flowed well. Legit felt like E3, which I've never felt with the Geoff show. Fable, Perfect Dark, Doom, Gears, COD, all the third party stuff actually, etc. looks promising. In the near future I'm curious about Avowed since it comes from Obsidian, i hear they're showing gameplay tomorrow. I'm hoping after Avowed and Outerworlds sequel Obsidian focuses on 1 game so they can finally make a AAA looking title, graphically.

There’s still 2 unannounced games from Naughty Dog, 2 unannounced games from Santa Monica Studio, Haven’s new game, Bend Studio’s new game, Insomniac’s Wolverine and other unannounced titles, San Diego’s unannounced AAA action game, Bluepoint’s next game, Firesprite’s next game, Housemarque’s next game and Sucker Punch’s next game (most likely GoT2). They have plenty of first party studios that can put together a great showcase, so I definitely wouldn’t say Sony are screwed. They’ll also look to make exclusive deals with third party developers the way they did with FF7, Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade etc.

With this they can have their own take on an adventure game and story like this but have systems that are built around it being in first person so it feels even more distant from those 2. My only criticism is want to see more methodical games like Metal Gear, Splinter Cell, Hitman. I feel there’s a big market missing there. I want to see more slow paced games that are atmospheric, have subtlety and attention to detail, not everything has to be bombastic cause the market is quite saturated for high octane action games. There’s some good stuff shown here though that have a good balance of elements.

My brother selling xboxes is not the goal of Microsoft. They don't even make much money off console sales the real money maker is in the cut they take on software purchases on their platform. Now with Gamepass the focus shifts from console sales to getting the game in the hands of has many players who want to play it. Regardless of where you buy the game to play it you are buying into the xbox ecosystem. Just look at the Steamdeck for example you can buy PC games anywhere but Steam has built an ecosystem. It does not matter if you can build a PC with any parts you want and purchase games on whatever storefront you want because they have built up so much value its a no brainer to buy into their ecosystem. Xbox as a platform is looking to do the same going forward. Buying the game on Steam, PS5 or streaming it though the cloud all lead to Microsoft gaining profits while buying a gamepass subscription leads to the best value... Either way Xbox is one step closer to their goal
