To this day, I still think their biggest mistake was not having Gen 2 being released around August 2016 and having the Team Rocket idea they eventually implemented into the game at launch. I vividly remember the Summer of 2016. I got my first "real job" at a water park after really getting into it about working at the family saw mill for pennies illegally. The first summer I had any freedom financially was also the first I had a smart phone, so I downloaded the game and would stay out and about until 2, 3, 4 in the morning walking around and catching pokemon. It was the strangest thing sometimes too, I'd be walking around town at midnight and I'd see roaming groups of the elderly and the middle aged alike hogging the benches in the park trying to farm the pokestops - me and my buddies used to mess with them and say that we found some high level pokemon about five minutes that-a-way just so we could see them get up and run off in a hurry. One time I even saw that there were two free spots on some gyms that were right next to each other and ran outside during a thunderstorm with a bag over my phone to claim the spots - slipped and fell and came home soaked and covered in mud but it was a pretty funny story regardless. Banger video, bought back a lot of fond memories.

Ahh, let’s get this over with. I must say something unimaginable: despite being a massive Pokémon fan since 1999, I’ve never ever played GO... since my phones so far have always been on the lower end of specs and battery life. We just couldn’t afford newer ones for a variety of reasons. So I’ve seen and experienced this whole craze from an outside perspective. I don’t think most of my relatives have even tried it out so this sentiment hits even more true. And even if I get a newer phone someday and download it, there would be a metric ton of catch up to do that sounds quite scary. At least I was eventually able to experience some mobile Pokémon action with Masters EX last year. I’ve been playing it for over a year now and it’s still a lot of fun.

I was so excited because it came out around my birthday I even did the trick to download it before it officially came out in the U.K. the first month was crazy I would walk for hours everyday and there was a trend for nighttime gym takeovers because your Pokémon would last longer in gyms at night because everyone would be sleeping so more coins for you

My favorite summer ever. Relaxing in Arizona with my boyfriend, playing Overwatch, meeting people while playing Pokémon Go, exploring nature to find Pokémon, amazing Trump meme magic. It was a dream.

I was so happy to be one of the beta testers Sadly I was still a high school who had to buy his own phone and plan so my hard ware was awful to test with lmao

I have such fond memories of this summer. I got my first smartphone just to play this game and had just graduated hs when I saw someone at a quickly who caught a vulpix. I remember someone telling me there was "a hella lit rapidash in the parking lot", People getting excited when a starter spawned on the santa monica pier,a kid asking me about how an evolution works, and all the weird places I went late at night with my dad to catch pokemon like jynx. I still play and have had cool experiences, but there isn't much that could compare to the hype of 2016

I remember downloading modded versions that allowed you to spoof your location and go anywhere, my friends and I eventually started using bots that would go around pokestops and collect the end-game pokemon (dragonite, snorlax, etc.) and pretty much hold all the gyma in our town. i had so many arcanines i was nicknamed "The Arcanine God", damn i miss 2016
