Great insight! Tonebridge is a no brainer for any guitarist. My most used amp is the Nembrini Crunck - just a trickle of gain and it sounds great. That being said, I’m just starting to explore Rhino.

So true for BIAS FX! hahaha!.... and right on point for Rhino as the BEST one currently!, Did you noticed Rhino also has an Octaver when you touch the center Rhino head and you can adjust the intensity of it by dragging along up or down the Rhino head, I sometimes even use it jut for the IR loader section as it lets you load 4 different IR and mix between them, so good!

Thanks for a great video and comparison!! PLEASE.... I want an iOS app that is geared more towards replacing my pedalboard or multi-fx processor. I want one that supports (a) the use of AUV3 plugins in lieu of physical pedals (b) lets me create and select between presets (at the pedalboard or project level) whilst (b1) keep audio trails when I change to presets (b2) making the preset selection process easy and finally (c) supports control by a MIDI controller as my hands are full of a guitar and pick Thanks!! I really want to ditch my Line 6 Helix floor model and just use my iPad, and while I think AUV3 plugins are amazing, I am skeptical any software "host" supports or well support the preset creation, management and selection. Thanks Again!!

A guitarist can lose himself for months in these endlessly cool fun apps. I have a number of these including the expensive one. But I can't remember ever using any of these apps when I was recording in either Garageband or Logic. I guess I'm not very picky and I use the built-in stuff. As you pointed out, it's very good and all most people need. I do like playing with Tonebridge.

I wonder why plugins are much cheaper for iPad than they are for Mac/PC, lol, not that I'm complaining. The Nembrini 8180 sounds BETTER than the real 5150 stack I once owned; that's insane. As for full guitar/bass layouts, I think the Yonac Tonestack is the best out there, better than even Amplitude or Overloud. Until I got an iPad, I had never heard of them. And their slide app, and their synth/organ apps are unreal. Their organ app has several 60s type organs which no one else emulates. Okay, I'll shut up now. 😛

New to your excellent channel and GB. Thank you for your content! Nothing against any of the other plugins! I plan to check them out and especially ToneStack. I am curious about the dislike for Bias FX 2 and the their amp /pedal plugins. I infer from your video is it the cost? What about the sound? On another note, Rhino sounds great but I find the interface intimidating. At least Bias FX and ToneStack have an interface guitar players can relate to (amp faces and familiar pedals). Thank you!

Hey. One year later. I use bias fx 2 live as my main amp and drives (Mac mini) and I use it on iPhone for my backup rig (with an xtone pro) I have to say it is the best sound and UI you can get but, it's feckin pricy in comparison to other apps. (spesificly iOS) You get what you pay for with this stuff, for the most part anyway. I love it but to be fair every app he showed here is pretty class so, pick a UI you like and your most of the way there. (bias has an unlimited amount of pedals you can chain; depending on your phone/iPad's CPU I guess, it's never come up for me. also midi mapping for every little thing, a lot of the other apps are lacking in both of these feature sets. Honestly I have no idea why im still typing, sorry (-:

Are your favorite Apps equally applicable for bass guitar? Or, are there better apps for bass?

I’d recommend checking out Mammoth, a bass focussed app from the same developer who created Rhino.

Hello Patrick. A question if I may? Is there such a thing as a piece of reverb kit that only cuts in when a singer sings beyond a certain loudness? Thanks.

Gated Reverb - not possible in GarageBand natively (no side chain compression), but may be possible using a third party app. Let me look into it 👍

@@TheGaragebandGuide Thank you, Patrick. I didn't know that that is what it is called. Gated Reverb. Thanks. Now I'm going to have to look up what side chain compression means! I'm a newbe!

I like Rhino, THU and Nembrini and I tried the Stark app too but I keep coming back to the Saturn app of Fabfilter. That is the main app I use on stage for almost anything I play.

You plonker! you cost me over £100 of goodness that why I love you for them great stuff mate, especially Tonestack Pro "Pot of gold is really golden goodies" and Rhino "Love the damn thing it is awesome and oooof fat as FUCK when you chugging " never thought they will sound this good. Keep up the good work my good friend . Best regards from London

Until Positive Grid update Bias FX to be AUv3 compatible it remains impossible to recommend, regardless of how much they’ve reduced IAP pricing.

@@TheGaragebandGuide AUv3? whats that… is there any videos explaining that? I use my ipad for running bias fx2 and bias amp2. I have downloaded the softwares you mentioned in the video except for tonestack and stark, as my budget is tight… i will try these one by one.

Apart from Nembrini, all the other apps he chose are complete junk and sound terrible. Scoffing at Bias FX 2 is hilarious, it's easily better than the shite he's chosen. Just wish they would update Bias mobile work with Logic Pro on iPad. The updated Desktop version is on par with Neural DSP IMO. Neural, Nembrini and Bias FX 2 are in the Premier League.

Bias FX isn’t CLOSE to being on par with the apps in this video precisely BECAUSE it can’t be used with Logic Pro for iPad or any other iOS DAW.

@@TheGaragebandGuide Tonebridge has no volume on my Mac or ipad Pro, even with my gain cranked right up. It also crashes all the time on both platforms. I have tried everything and it's just horrible. Bias just works, sounds great and is infinitely tweakable with EQ settings and Bias Amp 2. I don't need Auv3.
